Job Summary:

Supervise drivers, general help employees and inventory control specialists in the completion of their daily job functions. Monitor job performance, assist in training with an emphasis on new employees. Manage and schedule drivers to meet or exceed all customers' expectations and provide exceptional customer service. Manage inventory for the laboratory testing and customer needs. Operate a company vehicle as needed.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Insure all employees comply with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Lead a team of employees to set work schedules and approve time off. Approve and oversee courier / inventory purchases (maintenance, gas, supplies, etc.), establish routes to minimize cost of picking up customer samples
  • Oversee vehicle maintenance program to include when/where (use of GPS) to have routine maintenance completed, maintain maintenance logs and schedule using online tool (Nextraq, or equivalent). Accountability for routine maintenance, i.e. proper fluid levels and tire air pressure
  • Oversee client communication establish needs (to include special pick-ups) schedule and coordinate pick-ups and delivery of supplies assuring customer supplies and return coolers are shipped in a timely manner
  • Oversee, approve, and deliver accurate courier / inventory control expense reports, credit card billing statements, toll upkeep, and gas & maintenance receipts
  • Maintain courier logs and review monthly for quality
  • Maintain parking lot and area around building. Coordinate timely trash pickup
  • Drive safety results to include assigning and updating Drivers Alert & driver training, ensure couriers are up to date with the corporate list and conduct monthly vehicle and safety audits
  • Ensure all collision and injury reports are completed in an accurate and timely manner, according to company policy
  • Manage inventory supply levels as well as shipping and receiving of FedEx and chains of custody
  • May be required to be on-call to coordinate after hours pickups or cover shifts as needed
  • Responsible for general facility and selected equipment maintenance and upkeep, to include inspection, troubleshooting and light repair. Management of outside service providers such as janitorial crew, electrical, plumbing and other vendors, as needed
  • Assist with researching and selecting inventory items that are suitable for lab needs and economically feasible
  • Supervision of the sanitation room activities, to include management of general help employees and processes related to the decontamination of waste materials and sanitization of laboratory supplies
  • Assisting with managing priorities and schedule such that individual goals as well as team goals are achieved with encouraged participation in the Food Safety Net Services Team
  • Responsible for the safety of oneself and others working within their area
  • Responsible for the completion of required training

Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma or G.E.D
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Training in general laboratory practices
  • Selected applicant must be eligible to possess a company credit card which requires a good credit rating with the major credit reporting companies. A credit history will verify information.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, dependability and initiative in prior work experience.
  • Basic knowledge of concepts and practices of a testing laboratory preferred.
  • Proficient with customer service, inventory systems, and lab information management systems
  • Ability to understand and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Supervision:

  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; participating in the performance management process; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and to handle other communications/computer components
  • Potential exposure to odors, fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, and microbiological pathogens
  • Noise level varies from quiet to loud
  • Interactive and fast-paced team oriented tasks
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 55 pounds.
