Department OverviewThe Cloud Platforms & Services team is responsible for the development and operations of critical cloud infrastructure and platform services, in support of Motorola Solutions' public and hybrid cloud-based Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions for public safety customers. This team is part of Motorola Solutions' Software Enterprise division, which offers secure, reliable and efficient team communications, workflow and operational intelligence solutions for mission critical public safety and enterprise markets throughout the world. Perform as a contributing member of an advanced data engineering team using Fabric and Apache Spark mainly to design, develop and maintain scalable data solutions. The ideal candidate will have a solid software development background and experience with modern data engineering practices, including CI/CD, data governance and cloud platforms(AWS/Azure).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, test, and optimize robust ETL/ELT pipelines using Fabric/Databricks and Apache Spark for batch and streaming workloads , producing mission-critical, real-time integrations that will affect the public directly and may save lives

  • Integrate data from diverse sources (databases, Data Lakes, APIs) ensuring data quality, consistency, and integrity

  • Automate, administer and optimize Fabric environments including cluster configuration, Unity Catalog management and cost control

  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with technical leaders in a multi-team/multinational environment with teams spanning the globe to deliver data solutions aligned with the business needs

  • Demonstrate flexibility and resilience in the face of changing technologies, priorities, and requirements

  • Monitor and tune data processing workflows to enhance performance and reliability

  • Support legacy applications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field

  • 4+ years of data engineer experience

  • Extensive experience with Fabric Data Engineer and Apache Spark, MLOps is a plus

  • Solid knowledge in software development practices, principles, and tools including Python, PowerShell, C#, .NET Core

  • Proven ability to design and implement different data models (Relational and non-relational)

  • Advanced English level to work effectively with stakeholders and technical teams

  • Experience with RDBMS such as MySQL, MariaDB, SQL Server and any NoSql distributed databases like Cosmos DB/MongoDB/ DynamoDB

  • Knowledge and working experience with REST based APIs and notion of implementing microservice principles and architectures

The candidate must be in the office once a week at one of the following locations: Allen, TX, Chicago, IL , or Schaumburg, IL.

This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.

Target Base Salary Range: $95,000 - $115,000 USD.

Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
