THE POSITION

The Department of Labor & Industry is looking for a talented individual to take on the role of Vocational Rehabilitation Instructor Supervisor. In this position, you will ensure the seamless running of instructional activities by supervising and providing essential guidance to instructors in order to maintain a high standard of operation. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an integral part of the vocational rehabilitation education team, you will assume multifaceted responsibilities aimed at ensuring the smooth operation of instructional activities. Work involves proactive problem-solving to address issues within classrooms, shops, and units, utilizing available resources judiciously and in alignment with the scope of authority. You will be tasked with supervising curriculum development and lesson planning, encompassing support for vocational rehabilitation instructors in various aspects such as program development, syllabus creation, and instructional material procurement. You will also be responsible for evaluating instructor performance through structured assessments, facilitating their professional growth and maintaining student records management systems. You will have the opportunity to actively engage in program coordination with other divisions to optimize rehabilitative services, resolve emergent issues, and provide substitute coverage during absences. Staying updated on industry practices and serving as a liaison with stakeholders are vital components, along with contributing to the smooth functioning of the education office and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and grants.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Five years of any equivalent combination of experience and training that included curriculum development, training/instructing, and vocational education/occupational work; or
  • Two years of journey level experience in a vocational occupation; and three years of training or instructing, including participation in the development of educational curricula or programs. Eighteen college level credits in vocational education teaching courses, including curriculum development, may be substituted for one year of training or instructing; or
  • A bachelor degree in vocational education that included curriculum development; and two years of training or instructing.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
