THE POSITION

Allegheny County Department of Human Services, Area Agency on Aging is expanding its Protective Services Unit. We are looking for robust and compassionate professional leadership to direct teams of casework supervisors to assist in protecting and empowering older adults in our community. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Aging Care Management Supervisor 2 monitors, evaluates and provides oversight of subcontracted Protective Services agencies and internal Area Agency on Aging Protective Services staff. The incumbent provides guidance and direction to Protective Services subcontractors and staff to ensure cases assigned to those agencies and staff remain in PA Department of Aging (PDA) compliance. You will maintain a working knowledge of all PDA laws, rules, regulations, and operating procedures involved under their direction and oversight. Additional duties include:

  • Provide oversight and support to Protective Services Investigation staff and Protective Services staff with related grants
  • Ensure that investigations are promptly investigated utilizing the appropriate policies, rules, and PDA regulations.
  • Provide direct supervision of the work of supervisors and Administrative Officers of Protective Services.
  • Evaluate, analyze, and determine significant trends in Protective Services data, including data mining priorities and appropriate use of mined data, make recommendations from findings and submit them to the Deputy Administrator.
  • Act as a primary point of contact between the Protective Services unit and management staff of other agency program areas.
  • Serve as a representative at meetings outside the agency.
  • Evaluate staff performance on an annual basis, as required, providing input regarding personnel actions.
  • Coordinate and participate in case conferencing of difficult cases, as requested.
  • Provide input and implement changes in policies and procedures necessitated by regulatory changes and best practices.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 2 days per week after 6 months of employment. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pittsburgh. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four years of experience in public or private social work; and a Bachelor's Degree; or any equivalent combination of experience and training including successful completion of 12 semester hours of college level courses in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other related social sciences.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
