DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Transportation Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring that construction projects adhere to safety and quality standards, contributing to the overall efficiency of transportation infrastructure development. You will support the review of completed work units and materials utilized to ensure adherence to department policies and accuracy. You will also assist in coordinating and controlling the district's field construction project records and documentation by utilizing ECMS, PennDOT Project Collaboration Center (PPCC), and mobile construction applications on PennDOT issued iPad devices. Additionally, you will be involved in conducting technical reviews of material costs for highway and bridge construction projects. This will involve verifying the completeness and accuracy of documentation and work orders submitted by project management staff to support payments. Furthermore, you will participate in inspecting construction operations on roads and bridges to ensure that the work aligns with the plans, specifications, and contract provisions. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position is vendor-controlled. Work hours may vary to meet operational needs.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) ad-hoc, as approved, after successful completion of the probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Montoursville. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $40,685.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or
- One year of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:
- This particular position also requires possession of a valid Class C non-commercial driver's license.
