Georgia Pacific's EarthKraft Packaging team is seeking qualified professionals to consider for a Process Engineer - Quality role supporting our growing Mailers business. In this role, you will be the primary liaison between our customers and suppliers, ensuring that our products meet and exceed customer quality standards, enabling a preferred partnership. Your focus will be on developing robust quality processes, resolving customer quality challenges, and supporting the continued growth of our business.

The successful candidate in this role will be self-driven with a passion for leading continuous improvement initiatives. The selected individual will have a proven track record of solving technical problems through the application of data analysis techniques and problem-solving methodology. Location: this role will be located in Atlanta, GA but open to remote for the right candidate.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the quality program for outsourced packaging products, working with suppliers to develop and maintain robust quality practices through application of quality tools such as PFMEA, Control Plans, Gauge R&R, advanced problem solving, and 6 Sigma.
  • Apply appropriate risk-based thinking to proactively identify opportunities to reduce our quality risk profile.
  • Collect Voice of Customer (VOC) feedback, communicate insights to the wider GP team and key suppliers, and drive actions to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Respond promptly to customer quality challenges, managing complaints with suppliers in collaboration with the cross-functional team.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and develop preventive and corrective action plans (CAPA).
  • Conduct quarterly supplier audits and leverage comparative testing (round-robin testing) to maintain product quality standards.
  • Serve as the quality database owner, ensuring accurate data collection and effective storage of quality data.
  • Identify and develop key customer success metrics for internal reporting and continuous improvement.
  • Support supplier & customer trials for new and differentiated products and solutions.
  • Provide effective communication with cross-functional teams (operating teams, customers, R&D engineers).
  • Understanding of the customer application (how the SmartPaper machine works) and which requirements are more critical than others.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a technical field with 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or quality role, or 7+ years of experience in a manufacturing or quality role without a degree.
  • Past experience in manufacturing plant working with a process and analyzing quality data coming from the process.
  • Basic quality/six sigma statistical knowledge of Mean, Standard Deviation, process capability calculation, and histograms.
  • Understanding of how our specific SmartPaper production process works, where the measurements come from, and which properties relate to each other.
  • Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives/projects/programs within a cross functional team.
  • Experience applying problem-solving methodologies (FMEA root cause, 5-why).
  • Willing and able to travel up to 50% of the time.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience in Paper, Packaging, or Converting industries.
  • Experience demonstrating an ability to analyze large data sets and apply statistics to generate knowledge systems that present actionable information.
  • Experience demonstrating the application of additional Quality Capabilities (Auditing, Gage R&R, 3L5W, Poka Yoke, VOC, et).
  • Experience demonstrating an understanding and application of economics, value create and risk-based thinking for continuous improvement.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Applications like Excel and Power Bi, and data manipulation to support data analysis.

For this role, we anticipate paying $90,000 - $120,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
