Description

Accountable for developing, improving, and supporting all production processes associated with the launch, manufacture, and test of products in an assigned value stream or product line. Often directs, guides, or mentor's activities of Level I process engineers, prioritizing workload based upon needs of production floor.

Essential Job Functions:



  • Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing processes while maintaining compliance to design specifications.
  • Where necessary, will include development and programming of equipment automation such as PLCs, data acquisition, software or similar manufacturing equipment control and/or automation systems. May support creation of CNC code and tool path simulation if supporting machining operations.
  • Primary contact for design engineering, program management or operations management on manufacturing processes.
  • Creates and maintains manufacturing methods, Bills of Material, and labor standards in ERP system.
  • Leads activities related to C.I., RCCA, PFMEA, and cost reductions/process improvements.
  • Review, approval and implementation of product or process design and technical documentation changes related to manufacturing and testing.
  • Design, construction, and validation of tooling, fixtures, gages, and equipment.
  • Work with product engineers, Program Managers, Production Managers, Supply Chain Management and Quality Assurance to effectively launch product from design through production.
  • Creates process workflow and cell design with a focus on waste reduction and process improvement.
  • Works directly with customers and suppliers to address manufacturing issues and implement solutions.
  • Assist as required to maintain compliance to industry standards (AS-9100, NADCAP).
  • Act as primary point of contact for specialized manufacturing processes (such as NADCAP).
  • Analysis of manufacturing variances to help identify key areas in need of improvement.



Additional Duties:



  • Support Supply Chain and Supplier Quality with supplier development activities as needed.
  • Support resolution of supplier quality issues as required.
  • Mentor/guide level I manufacturing engineers.
  • Support customer complaints & concerns.
  • Provide support for Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives, companywide.
  • Other duties, reporting, special assignments, or projects as needed and assigned.
  • Must remain current with, and complete all required training as assigned.


  • Must adhere to Company Corporate EHS Policy and department, occupation, and task specific safety protocols, including but not limited to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.



Qualifications:



  • 5-10 years manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Hands on troubleshooting & problem solving including statistical analysis.
  • Knowledge of both manual and automated mechanical/electrical/hydraulic (as appropriate) equipment for tooling, fixtures, and testing
  • Ability to implement change and train employees in a production floor environment.
  • Excellent technical, written and oral communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office
  • Working knowledge of ERP (in particular BOM & Manufacturing Method creation & support)
  • Lean Manufacturing certification strongly preferred.
  • Ability to interpret 2D blueprints and 3D models. Working knowledge of GD&T preferred.
  • For machining environment: minimum 5 years CAD and CAM software experience required.
  • Non-Machining environment: must have a working knowledge of CAD software and 3D printing.


  • Must submit to and satisfactorily pass any pre-employment screening required for employment with the Company.
  • Must take medical exams required by law, in conjunction with occupation specific activities, the physical work environment, and ongoing industrial hygiene sampling results.
  • Depending on assignment, may be required to use stairs, remain upright and/or seated for prolonged timeframes, intermittently reposition the body per various tasks performed, and use various tools and work-related supplies.
  • May be required to perform manual lifting activities, not to exceed a 40lb lift performed by one individual.



Education:



  • Four-year degree in engineering preferred (mechanical, electrical, aerospace, or manufacturing preferred) OR 10-15 years of progressive manufacturing job responsibility in lieu of degree.
