Job Summary

The Senior Developer, ServiceNow is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing solutions within the ServiceNow platform to streamline business processes, enhance service delivery, and improve overall efficiency. This role involves collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements, and to design and build technical solutions, including custom forms, workflow and integrations. The role also requires designing and managing the master data and configuration of ServiceNow modules. The ServiceNow Developer plays a critical role in defining the technical architecture and design of the ServiceNow environment and creating innovative solutions to solve business problems across the organization.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Partners with stakeholders (HR, Finance, Compliance, IT) to gather requirements and create technical design documents (TDD).
  • Acts as a technical mentor to junior developers, conducting code reviews and enforcing best practices for scripting and security.
  • Designs and architects solutions leveraging ServiceNow capabilities to address complex business requirements, workflows, and integrations.
  • Develops custom applications, modules, forms, workflows, and scripts within the ServiceNow platform using JavaScript, Flow Designer, Service Portal, and custom widgets and other relevant technologies.
  • Configures ServiceNow modules, including Incident Management, Change Management, Service Catalog, and others, to align with business processes and requirements.
  • Acts as a workstream lead in larger cross-functional or cross-platform projects, including accountability for project tasks, milestones and managing the delivery task of junior developers and/or third-party resources.
  • Designs and implements integrations between ServiceNow and other enterprise systems, using REST/SOAP APIs and Integration Hub.
  • Troubleshoots complex integration errors and monitor system performance logs.
  • Customizes ServiceNow applications and functionalities using scripting, UI policies, business rules, and client scripts to meet specific business needs.
  • Leads the development of Scoped Applications to support specific business functions (e.g., HR, Manufacturing Operations, Facilities).
  • Manages platform upgrades, patching, and instance cloning strategies while minimizing customization technical debt.
  • Provides ongoing support, troubleshooting, and maintenance for ServiceNow applications and integrations, addressing incidents, problems, and enhancement requests promptly.
  • Stays updated on ServiceNow releases, new features, and industry trends, proactively identifying opportunities for system enhancements and process improvements.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems or related field is required.
  • 8+ years of experience as a ServiceNow Developer, with hands-on experience in designing, developing, and implementing solutions within the ServiceNow platform.
  • Experience in ServiceNow scripting and customization.
  • Experience with ServiceNow modules such as Incident Management, Change Management, and Service Catalog
  • Experience documenting and authoring process, workflows, policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of ServiceNow development best practices, standards, and methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to understand complex business requirements and design efficient technical solutions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ServiceNow modules such as Asset Management and CMDB.
  • ServiceNow certifications such as Certified Application Developer (CAD), Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS), or Certified System Administrator (CSA) are preferred.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes and frameworks is desirable.
  • Business relationship management skills
  • Project lead experience preferred
  • Advanced MS-Excel skills, including statistical analysis
  • Highly organized; superior time management skills
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral
  • Self-motivated and works well independently and in a team-setting
