Position Overview:

PBS Station Services provides a vital line of communication, information and resource sharing, and guidance and professional development to PBS member station staff, their partners, and public media affiliates across the country. The Station Programming Engagement Intern works with Stations Services staff at PBS Headquarters to ensure the continued quality and reliability of resources made available to the public media system. This role will help manage direct correspondence with stations looking to promote programming in their communities, support PBS staff as they prepare and deliver summer and fall programming guidance, evaluate brand and message consistency while developing and posting new and updated content to station-facing platforms, and conduct research on local needs for audience/community engagement.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to

  • Work with Station Services and other PBS colleagues to plan, create, and post new and updated content to the PBS Hub

  • Manage incoming screener requests from stations

  • Draft communications (blogs, email copy, talking points) that inform stations of upcoming opportunities and celebrate local wins and public media initiatives

  • As needed, conduct research related to the station product and engagementinitiatives, including surveying member stations, summarizing findings, and developing case studies around their needs and local efforts

  • Provide planning and content support for systemwide Summer School webinar and engagement program

  • Monitor brand use across station-facing communications and develop suggestions for better alignment

Requirements for success:

  • Strong writing and editing skills

  • Experience conducting research

  • Excellent time management

  • Adept interpersonal abilities

Skills Intern may acquire:

  • Formalproject management methodologies

  • Web content development

  • Content Management System (CMS) administration

  • Interdepartmental collaboration

  • An understanding of the public media system

Additional Information:

  • Time Commitment: June 1, 2026 - August 21, 2026

  • Compensation: Undergraduate students receive $15/hour, graduate students receive $17/hour
