Job Title: GIS Technician I. Location: Gastonia, NC. Description: High Level Project Overview/Duties: Maintain and organize documentation and records related to utilities, ensuring proper document control and easy accessibility. Perform detailed research on historical records and data to support field operations. Verify and update records as needed to ensure accuracy and completeness. Collaborate with external partners (contractors, utilities, agencies) to facilitate smooth communication and coordination of operations. Work closely with internal teams to ensure that operational procedures are aligned with GIS and documentation needs. Ensure that all stakeholders are kept informed of any changes or updates to records and GIS data. Perform in-depth research to gather accurate data and documentation to support ongoing projects and operational needs. Analyze historical data, utility records, and other related materials to resolve discrepancies and provide insights. Assist in troubleshooting any issues related to GIS systems or document control processes. Ensure operational workflows involving GIS and document control are executed efficiently, meeting project deadlines and operational needs. Top 3 Required Skills: Entry level GIS experience and basic understanding of GIS concepts. Problem resolution, analytical and detail oriented. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and handle changing and emerging priorities. What soft skill requirements do you have (team fit and personality requirements)? Strong communication skills both verbal and written. Ability to lead, collaborate, or work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams. Nice to Have Skills: CAD type drawing skills. Strong understanding of topography is preferred. Education: Minimum Highschool diploma or equivalency Required. GIS certification/degree Preferred. Preferred Years of Experience: 1-year experience with GIS work. Are there any specific companies/industries you'd like to see in the candidate's experience? Utility experience would be great.
