Machine Operator

Penn United Technologies, Inc. is looking for a full-time Machine Operator to work in our Die Assembly & Development team in our Tooling Group. In this role, you would be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining various types of machinery and equipment, ensuring quality and productivity by troubleshooting and making necessary adjustments. This is an excellent entry level position that has the potential to lead to an in-house Apprenticeship program and which also provides an opportunity to advance your skills and grow within our employee-owned company. Position is primarily daylight but must be available to work a non-daylight shift when needed in times of high workload.

Responsibilities:



  • Prioritize, plan and prepare work. Analyze tasks and establish appropriate sequence of operations
  • Read prints & job orders for product specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances and machine set-up requirements
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, and materials on machines
  • Safely operate machines in order to machine or grind components to customer specifications.
  • Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors or enter commands to retrieve, input or edit computerized machine control media.
  • Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications using precision measuring devices (such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc..)
  • Help develop tools to bring product into customer specifications

Knowledge and Skills



  • Must have math & mechanical skills/aptitude
  • Must have the ability & desire to do precision work
  • Able to work well independently and cooperatively with team
  • Candidates must be able to stand 8-10 hours per day, and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Shift: Predominantly daylight, however candidates must be able to work afternoon or midnights shifts when needed due to higher workload.


Education/Experience:



  • Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience with lathes, mills or precision grinders preferred.
  • Previous experience with blueprint reading and measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers is preferred
