Sigma Defense is currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our Engineering team. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Mechanical Engineering practices, such as 3D modeling, simulations, rapid-prototyping, and drafting which will directly contribute to the development of new Sigma Defense products.

The ideal candidate is someone currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering with a strong interest in CAD design. The candidate should have a basic understanding of Mechanical Engineering principals and a desire to learn and grow in a dynamic environment.

Requirements

  • Must be a second semester sophomore or above.
  • Some familiarity with CAD software and FEA.
  • Experience with SolidWorks modeling and simulation software, prototyping, electronics assembly, and drafting techniques is preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

Education Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Mechanical Engineering.

Essential Job Duties (not all-inclusive):

  • Design parts and assemblies of low to mid-level complexities for current and new R&D projects.
  • Assist with preparations of manufacturing drawings to ensure the document contains all pertinent information the manufacturer needs to successfully produce the part.
  • Liaison with manufacturers to ensure parts are produced within budget and on time.
  • Collaborate with engineering team to provide project updates, new ideas, and improving existing products.
  • Assist with 3D printing parts for prototypes as well as set-up for new machines and equipment.

Pay Range: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour.
