JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE: Under the direction of the Mobile Unit Manager. The Mobile Health Unit Driver will be responsible for driving a 38-foot-long RV-style vehicle to and from offsite clinics and events throughout Southeastern Wisconsin. The mobile unit will offer mobile clinical health services in the area that include, but are not limited to vaccinations, routine health exams, chronic disease management, etc. These clinics will be at various locations with regularly scheduled collaborations during normal business hours, but special events may be after business hours and on some weekends. The mobile unit driver is responsible for safely driving the mobile unit, and equipment to and from offsite clinic locations. The mobile unit driver is responsible for securing the mobile unit and mobile unit staff from any threats with the intent to de-escalate to prevent issues if possible. The mobile unit driver is responsible for assisting the mobile unit team in setting up the offsite clinic, taking down the clinic, and providing onsite operational support. The mobile unit driver will assist with the stocking and restocking of supplies on the mobile unit, taking the unit to be serviced, and assisting with daily cleaning needs. In the event the mobile unit does not have 40 hours during the week the driver will be allowed to work as Public Safety/ Facilities onsite at Outreach Community Health Centers to fulfill the full-time hours. A Class D license is required. A CDL license is not required, but is preferred. This position will report to the Mobile Unit Manager. During any public safety and facilities hours, they will be provided guidance from the Public Safety Manager. This is a Full-Time Opportunity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Under general supervision and/or as part of various workgroups and teams, the Mobile Health Unit Driver performs the following essential functions within the framework of Outreach Community Health Center's provision of the core functions and essential services of our clinic:



  • Operate a large motor vehicle for transportation, pick-up, and disposal duties
  • Ensuring mobile unit is parked in a safe location, away from traffic and other hazards
  • Pick up and dispose of trash appropriately
  • Performs daily driver maintenance including observation and reporting of vehicle defects or equipment malfunctions
  • Perform vehicle checks and communicate maintenance needs
  • Assisting mobile unit clinical team in set up and take down of clinic
  • Pack supplies and equipment for mobile clinics
  • Ensure equipment is securely stored to prevent damage to equipment and vehicle
  • Assisting loading the mobile unit
  • Operating an awning/canopy
  • Disposal of bio-hazardous waste
  • Providing operational support during, before, and after an offsite clinic
  • Provide excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Securing the vehicle and staff from possible threats
  • Set up and breakdown of interior equipment
  • Assists mobile health unit team in escorting and directing clients
  • Connecting mobile unit to electrical sources as needed
  • Ensuring electrical panel and batteries are correctly powered up and down at the start/end of events
  • Re-fuels the mobile unit
  • Responsible for maintaining timeliness of route and adjusting as needed to traffic or weather conditions
  • Assists with cleaning the mobile unit and maintaining a safe and clean environment
  • Ability to work well independently, effectively, and efficiently under pressure, and able to multi-task
  • Pre-employment drug test is required


QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Be at least 21 years old;
  • Pre-employment drug test is required;
  • Valid Wisconsin driver's license, current certificate of vehicle insurance, and access to reliable transportation to all assigned work locations. A CDL license is not required, but preferred;
  • Experience working with clients in the community;
  • Contributes to a strong, team-oriented culture;
  • Has a positive attitude, and displays respect and cultural competency at all times in interactions with staff and Outreach consumers.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:



  • Completion of a high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 3 years' experience with no record of at-fault driving infractions, providing excellent customer service, preferably within a busy healthcare setting.
  • Previous experience driving a large truck, camper or other recreational vehicle.
