Job Summary


Under supervision of the Clinical Manager, guided by policies and procedures of the Ambulatory Services, and in collaboration with the Clinical Nursing Staff, the Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) assists in the delivery of care to patients in the Department of Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery in the ambulatory group practices. All components of nursing care will be individualized to meet the patient's physiological and psychosocial developmental level and needs. They will perform assigned patient care and procedures in support of the specialty care services provided to patients within the practices. The LVN consistently projects a professional and courteous demeanor and will adhere to the Telephone and House Standards as adopted by the Medical Center.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $43.00 - $53.94 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications


  • At least one year of experience in direct patient care in a medical practice.
  • Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
  • Current American Heart Association CPR Certification.
  • Superior customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience using and documenting within an Electronic Medical Record.
  • Licensed as a Vocational Nurse in the state of California.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience working in direct patient care in an ambulatory setting.
  • Previous experience using and documenting in APeX (or EPIC system).
  • Bilingual or multi-lingual capability (Spanish, Cantonese, Russian) strongly preferred.
  • Experience with insurance authorizations and interacting with retail pharmacies to refill medications.

License/Certification


  • Active Licensed Vocational Nurse licensure in the State of California
  • Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
