Wieland is hiring a Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) Coordinator. The Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) Coordinator is responsible for promoting and sustaining a strong culture of safety and environmental stewardship at Wieland. This role supports the implementation of SHE programs, development of policies, and execution of risk assessments to ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, federal, and company health, safety, and environmental requirements. The SHE Coordinator serves as a key member of the site leadership team, partnering closely with Production, Process Engineering, and Maintenance to drive continuous improvement in safety performance. This individual leads by example and actively champions the principles of the "My Safety, Our Commitment" safety campaign.

This role is located in Delaware, OH and will be fully on-site.



Responsibilities

SHE Coordinator Responsibilities:

    Partner with site leadership and Global Safety, Health & Environmental teams to strengthen and sustain a proactive safety culture.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety and environmental programs in alignment with regulatory requirements, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards, and company policies.
  • Conduct risk assessments, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and safety audits to ensure safe operation of machinery, equipment, PPE usage, and work procedures.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for employees, contractors, supervisors, and managers covering general safety awareness, regulatory requirements, and job-specific hazards.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements; maintain accurate documentation and records to support compliance efforts.
  • Oversee waste management practices to ensure proper handling, storage, disposal, and documentation in accordance with environmental regulations.
  • Administer the SHE incident reporting system, conduct root cause analyses, and collaborate cross-functionally to implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Investigate safety observations, near misses, and incidents to identify contributing factors and implement sustainable preventive measures.
  • Develop, review, and revise site SHE standards, policies, and procedures to ensure alignment with regulatory and corporate requirements.
  • Maintain required records and prepare reports to meet corporate, insurance, and regulatory reporting obligations.
  • Support internal and external audits, inspections, and regulatory agency visits.
  • Track, analyze, and report key SHE performance metrics; identify trends and recommend improvement initiatives.
  • Lead and promote site safety initiatives, engagement activities, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Participate in limited travel for training and professional development to maintain and enhance technical expertise.

SHE Coordinator Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental, Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related field - preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as GSP, ASP, CSP, CHMM, or OSHA 511 - preferred.
  • 3-5 years of related SHE experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment - required.
  • Experience implementing or maintaining environmental and safety management systems - required.
  • Experience managing, SHE programs within a manufacturing site - preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations, including but not limited to:
    o Hazard Communication (HAZCOM)
    o Respiratory Protection
    o Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
    o Confined Space
    o Work at Height / Fall Protection
    o Emissions Controls and Environmental Permitting
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance reporting and waste management practices.
  • Familiarity with SHE management systems and audit processes.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis methodologies (e.g., 5-Why, Fishbone, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management software systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to influence without authority and build cross-functional partnerships.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • High level of integrity and commitment to ethical and compliant operations.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
