OST is successful because we listen to our clients, we learn from our clients, and we know our clients. 508 and Publications Specialist Job Duties Core responsibilities focus on the design, formatting, and structure of major publications as well as whole document 508 remediation: Lead design, formatting, and remediation of Public Awareness Materials, various technical documents and publications, and additional project materials Liaise with client to gather requirements for content updates to major publications and public-facing materials Lead all 508 remediation tasks, ranging from large format documents and manuals to timely public bulletins Understand and comply with Style Manual and guidelines and ensure all documents and materials adhere to established standards Serve as a back-up to senior editor Review and correct written materials to ensure accuracy, clarity, consistency, and adherence to established style, grammar, formatting, and compliance standards prior to release Perform other related tasks assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager Job Requirements Candidates must meet or exceed each of the following minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in graphic design, UX/UI, Digital Media, Visual Communications or a related field of study US Citizen Ability to obtain public trust Minimum 3 years of professional experience in Section 508 remediation and digital design, preferably within a federal environment Demonstrated ability to validate document accessibility through manual testing (reading order, tags, alt text, tables, color contrast) and basic screen reader review Ability to gather requirements and organize changes to complex documents Ability to explain complex technical accessibility requirements to non-technical stakeholders Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail Excellent written and verbal communication skills Basic copy-editing skills Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint Deep understanding of WCAG 2.1 (Level A and AA) standards and the Revised Section 508 Standards Software Expertise: Remediation: Adobe Acrobat Pro (Advanced) Design: Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) Testing: JAWS, NVDA, ANDI, or WAVE Nice to have: Prior experience with the insurance industry Prior experience with DHS Strong people skills This is a full-time position paying a base salary of $80,000 - 90,000, and full benefits, and has possible bonus potential based on merit and performance.
