Career Opportunity

We are currently seeking candidates for a Senior IT Specialist/Windows position in our Wallops Island, Virginia office. The Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) Wallops Island, VA requires management, engineering, operation, and technical expertise for the activation, operations, maintenance and engineering of equipment, systems and computer programs in support of all NAVSEA and PEO IWS missions. The SCSC provides live and simulated integrated warfare capabilities in a net-centric, maritime environment to develop, test, evaluate and conduct fleet operations and training for the warfighter.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Senior IT Specialist/Windows will have adequate experience and training to effectively perform the duties listed below:

    Install hardware, build software, configure, and maintain Windows servers and workstations.
  • Create and administer user accounts, security groups, and group policy.
  • Conduct backups and system recoveries.
  • Configure and manage patching solutions and log collection.
  • Provide technical support to onsite users.
  • Maintain compliance with DoD Security Technical Configuration Guides (STIGs).
  • Investigation trouble calls, isolate faults, identify and implement corrective actions to restore information systems operations.
  • Oversee daily operations and performance of team members to ensure compliance with company policies and standards.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to employees, addressing any issues or concerns promptly and effectively.
  • Manage team schedules, including ensuring adequate coverage during absences.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, encouraging teamwork and open communication.

Travel

  • This position includes a low level of travel.

Education, Knowledge, Experience, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Bachelor's degree within the last five years in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Software Engineering or similar degree as listed in the DoD 8140 listings from an ABET accredited or NCAE Designed institution.

OR

  • One of the following trainings
    • WAU DCWF WRC 451 System Administrator - Intermediate Playlist

OR

  • One of the following certifications (IAT level II,III) for example:
    • CompTIA Cloud+
    • CompTIA Security+
    • GIAC Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional (GICSP)
    • Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP)
    • Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP)
    • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Security
    • CompTIA SecurityX (formerly CASP+)
    • Federal IT Security Professional-Operator-NG (FITSP-O)
    • GIAC Foundational Cybersecurity Technologies (GFACT)
    • GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC)

Qualifications

  • Active DoD Secret security clearance is highly desired, however candidates who are eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance will be considered. If the selected candidate does not hold an active clearance, he/she will receive a contingent offer. A start date will be established once an interim Secret clearance is granted.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from various work locations.
  • Must maintain the capability to communicate with their supervisor and/or manager when not in the office.

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting for long periods of time, standing, walking, crouching, and kneeling.
  • Reaching, handling, using equipment, keyboards, and mobile devices.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 20 lbs.
