The Assistant Director of Community Standards and Restorative Practices is a 12-month position promoting a learning environment for student accountability and success. This is often accomplished through individual meetings and interactions, investigating issues of behavioral misconduct regarding Creighton's Community Standards. The assistant director performs complex, advanced and manages highly confidential information and files. This position is responsible for student education, federally required and other training, and developing and updating student-facing policies and procedures. Serves as an investigator and conduct officer for on and off-campus student and student organization cases involving behavioral misconduct.

Responsibilities

  • Serves to respond to student and student organization misconduct issues that occur on and off campus. Present policy and community standards through orientations, online training, and training on request. Case completion of behavioral violations and maintenance of FERPA-protected student and student organization files. Facilitate training associated with the Standards of Conduct and policies and procedures.

  • Develop and educate specific programming on community expectations, substance misuse and conflict management. Continued partnership with other divisional offices to develop and implement peer-education programming opportunities for students and student organizations that clearly communicate Creighton University's values and expectations. Coordinate educational in-services for professional and student staff around student culture and behavior.

  • Data management including maintaining accurate records of conduct cases, compiling reports to assess and improve processes, updating Maxient letters, users, incident reports, and charges, and performing regular data audits.

  • Oversee assessment of behavioral misconduct process and sustain alignment with divisional and University learning outcomes. Assist with semester reports, annual reports, and record checks for various university departments and programs.

  • Research best practice behavioral intervention for students and student organizations, serve on committees and other functions as assigned within the Office of Community Standards and Restorative Practices.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in student conduct, student affairs, or a related area in higher education. Experience working on a college campus in a student conduct setting is strongly preferred.
  • Understanding and appreciation of the values and traditions of a Catholic, Jesuit university and being able to develop students through the guidance of the mission and values of the institution.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, appreciation for, and engagement in equity, diversity, and inclusion topics.
  • Understanding and demonstrating the application of student development theory.
  • Must be organized and communicate promptly and effectively through written and verbal communication.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with the utmost discretion and sensitivity.
  • Ability to take initiative and carry out detailed work under time constraints.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully balance, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks in an active, fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions while providing superior constituent service.
  • Computer proficiency required, including but not limited to Microsoft Outlook, database management, and trained in Maxient (preferred).
  • High level of comfort working with diverse student populations in a safe and welcoming environment.
