Position Overview:

PBS Station Services provides a vital line of communication, information and resource sharing, and guidance and professional development to PBS member station staff, their partners, and public media affiliates across the country. The Station Communications and Initiatives Intern works with Stations Services staff at PBS Headquarters to ensure the continued quality and reliability of resources made available to the public media system. This role will help us expand our communications and engagement offerings for our core audience of member station staff, assist in community and user management, prepare fundraising materials and guidance for station use, and coordinate across departments and disciplines to make a robust schedule of content available across station-facing platforms.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with Station Services and other PBS colleagues to plan, create, and post new and updated content to the PBS Hub

  • Help lead our systemwide Summer School webinar and engagement program, including connecting with presenters, scheduling, and collecting presentation materials

  • Assist in community management initiatives, including SSO (Single Sign-On) implementation and user on/offboarding

  • Draft communication (blogs, email copy, talking points) that inform stations of upcoming opportunities and celebrate local wins and public media initiatives

  • Develop one-sheets and other fundraising guidance and materials for station use

  • Assist in the preparation for our yearly council recruitment drive

Requirements for success:

  • Strong writing and editing skills

  • Keen eye for detail

  • Excellent time management

  • Adept interpersonal abilities

Skills Intern may acquire:

  • Formalproject management methodologies

  • Web content development,

  • Content Management System (CMS) administration

  • Interdepartmental collaboration

  • An understanding of the public media system

Additional Information:

  • Time Commitment: June 1, 2026 - August 21, 2026

  • Compensation: Undergraduate students receive $15/hour, graduate students receive $17/hour
