Key Responsibilities

  • Perform geologic field investigations for DOE, DoD, and commercial projects, including soil sampling, groundwater monitoring, and site characterization.
  • Assist in the collection and analysis of geologic data to support environmental and geotechnical projects.
  • Prepare field logs and maintain accurate records of geologic data collected during site investigations.
  • Contribute to the preparation of technical reports, environmental assessments, and geologic maps for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and environmental scientists to develop geotechnical and remediation solutions.
  • Support drilling operations, monitoring well installations, and other geologic field activities.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company safety protocols during all fieldwork activities.
  • Use geospatial and geotechnical software such as ArcGIS and AutoCAD to assist in data analysis and project reporting.
  • Present findings and progress reports to internal teams and clients, ensuring that project goals are met on time and within budget.
  • Provides support to projects, including field work. Field tasks will include drilling, sampling, and various other field tasks associated with site investigation and remediation.
  • Maintain field equipment and ensure proper functioning for geologic investigations.
  • Other reasonable directives, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.

Education, Experience and Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, Environmental Engineering, or a related field (required). Master's degree (preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in geological or environmental consulting, (required) with exposure to DOE or DoD projects (preferred).
  • 1-5 years of strong field data collection, soil sampling, low flow groundwater sampling, drilling, and MW installation with DPT and Roto sonic methods experience (required).
  • Applicant should be on a track to obtain their Licensed Professional Geologist (PG) certification (preferred).
  • Experience in geologic field investigations, environmental assessments, and subsurface analysis (required).
  • Familiarity with geotechnical and geospatial software, including ArcGIS and AutoCAD (preferred).
  • Must receive a satisfactory pre-hire drug screen and background check and be able to obtain a DOE/DoD security clearance.
  • 40-HR HAZWOPPER with updates (required)
  • DOE RAD/GET training (preferred)
  • DOE Oak Ridge Site Experience (preferred)
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License and clean driving record.
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements.
  • 80% of work will be performed in the field with potential of greater than 50% of travel (required)
