We manage the state park system and programs to inventory, interpret and protect Tennessees rich natural, historical and archaeological heritage. How you make a difference in this role: As Park Manager 1, you will steward a site containing nationally recognized Mississippian-era cave art and critical archaeological resources. This role is suited for a leader who values preservation and can guide a team in protecting a place that reflects Tennessee's story across centuries. Job Overview: The Park Manager 1 is responsible for operations, resource protection, visitor experience, staff supervision, and law enforcement oversight. This position supervises commissioned park rangers and must be commissioned or willing to complete training at the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy. The manager ensures safe operations while safeguarding sensitive cultural and natural resources. Key Responsibilities: Provide leadership and operational oversight, ensuring protection of nationally significant archaeological and cultural resources. Supervise commissioned park rangers and staff, maintaining responsibility for law enforcement, visitor safety, and regulatory compliance. Manage sensitive cave resources and archaeological sites while overseeing guided tours and interpretive programming. Lead budgeting, staffing, maintenance planning, and daily operations to maintain a safe and welcoming environment. Engage with local communities, partners, and researchers to support preservation and promote understanding of the parks historical significance. Minimum Qualifications: Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree. Three years' full-time professional park & conservation experience. Substitution of Education for Experience: Additional qualifying graduate coursework may be substituted for the required experience, on a year-for-year basis, to a maximum of one year. Substitution Experience for Education: Professional Park law enforcement, park management, or park interpretive work may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year-basis to a maximum of four years.
