Detailed Description Key Responsibilities
- Perform inspections of incoming raw materials, in-process components, finished products, and first articles to verify conformance to engineering and quality specifications.
- Conduct final inspections prior to shipment.
- Utilize precision measurement tools including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, thread gauges, pin gauges, and digital/analog optical equipment for dimensional verification.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T symbols, and internal quality procedures to determine acceptance criteria.
- Verify and document calibration status of measuring tools.
- Accurately document inspection results and maintain organized records in accordance with quality system requirements.
- Ensure full traceability of parts, materials, and documentation throughout the inspection process.
- Issue Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) as required and control nonconforming materials appropriately.
- Perform both dimensional and visual inspections with strong attention to detail.
- Review shop travelers and associated documentation for completeness and compliance before product progression.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe inspection area.
- Adapt to shifting priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Job Requirements (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T.
- Proficient in visual and dimensional inspection techniques of machined components.
- Solid working knowledge of precision measurement tools and inspection methodologies.
- Ability to interpret inspection requirements, procedures, raw material test reports, and Certificates of Conformance (COCs).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Effective oral and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Capable of operating lifting equipment, including overhead cranes.
- Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods as required.
- Good visual acuity and manual dexterity for precision measurements.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must pass an annual visual acuity test (with or without corrective lenses).
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- 2+ years of experience in a quality control or inspection role within a manufacturing or machining environment (or equivalent experience).
Preferred Certifications
- Knowledge of API product requirements preferred.
