About this opportunity:

The Department of Educational Psychology welcomes applications for a tenure-line faculty position in School Counseling at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. In addition to teaching graduate-level courses, the successful candidate will serve as Director of the Master's in School Counseling program. Responsibilities include curriculum oversight, accreditation alignment, student recruitment and advising, and collaboration with school and community partners. This role is central to maintaining program quality, licensure alignment, and compliance with state and national standards.

The ideal candidate will provide visionary academic leadership for the program while maintaining an active program of scholarship, high-quality teaching, and service aligned with departmental, college, and university expectations.

Salary range: $70,000 - $80,000

Employer will consider sponsorship.

Position Function:

Provide visionary academic leadership for the program while maintaining an active program of scholarship, high-quality teaching, and service aligned with departmental, college, and university expectations.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Program Leadership

  • Serve as Director of the M.A. in School Counseling program.
  • Lead curriculum review and continuous program improvement to ensure alignment with Indiana and national licensure requirements and national accreditation standards.
  • Coordinate program assessment, data collection, reporting, and external review processes.
  • Oversee recruitment, admissions, and student advising within the program.
  • Represent the program in college, university, and state-level meetings as needed.

Teaching

  • Teach graduate courses in school counseling, which could include both content and field experience courses.
  • Engage in curriculum innovation.

Scholarship

  • Maintain an active and productive research agenda in school counseling or a related area.
  • Seek external funding to support both research and community/school service delivery as available.
  • Publish in peer-reviewed outlets and present at national and regional conferences.

Service

  • Provide service to the department, college, university, and profession.
  • Engage with state and national professional organizations.
  • Support partnerships with local schools and youth serving agencies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision or Counseling Psychology with a specialization in School Counseling, or a closely related field from a CACREP or an APA accredited program (ABD considered for Assistant Professor with degree completed by date of appointment).
  • Eligibility to seek Indiana licensure by start date.
  • Strong potential for excellence in teaching.
  • Evidence of scholarship appropriate to rank, with a clear research agenda.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Indiana School Counselor license
  • At least two semesters / 8 months of experience in K-12 school counseling practice.
  • Understanding and demonstrated capacity for application of the ASCA National Model
  • At least one semester / 8 months of university teaching or serving as a teaching assistant, preferably at the graduate level.
  • Committee membership or leadership on groups charged with program coordination, accreditation, or curriculum development.
  • At least one semester / 4 months of serving as a supervisor, preferably of graduate student counselors or psychologists in training.
  • Demonstrated ability or strong potential for collaboration with school districts and community partners.
  • Commitment to the ethical and professional values of school counselors in regard to advocacy for the equitable treatment of all students and establishing inclusive learning environments in which all students can reach their full potential.
