Overview

Selective is recruiting for an Sr. Vice President of Investor Relations. This position leads the strategy and execution of the company's Investor Relations program, translating underwriting and investment results, strategy, and long-term value creation into clear, consistent communications for investors, analysts, and rating agencies. This leader serves as a strategic advisor to the CFO, CEO, and Board of Directors, ensuring disclosure quality, guidance discipline, and strong market engagement. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, including Regulation Fair Disclosure.

This position will be located in our future Short Hills, N.J. location. Until the new Short Hills headquarters is operational, the successful candidate will work in our Branchville, N.J. location during the interim.


Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Market Advisory: Shape Selective's financial and strategic narrative and advise on messaging implications of market trends and investor sentiment. Serve as the key point of contact for the investment community. Build a strong rapport with management and investors to position key corporate messages. Respond to shareholder, analyst, and employee requests for information.
  • Business Development: Partner with the CFO and executive leadership on business development initiatives, including acquisitions, partnerships, and strategic capital solutions.
  • Investor Communications: Own quarterly IR deliverables: earnings release, conference call script and Q&A preparation, investor presentation, and related SEC materials-applying Regulation FD principles to avoid selective disclosure and ensure broad dissemination. Partner with FP&A, Accounting, Actuarial, Treasury, and Legal to assure accuracy and consistency across guidance, commentary, and filings.
  • Financial Analysis & Market Intelligence: Evaluate external trends and industry dynamics. Proactively communicate key insights to Executive and Senior leadership to inform the execution of organizational priorities. Benchmark stock performance vs. P&C peers, track estimate revisions, ownership changes, and valuation drivers; synthesize implications for management and the Board. Analyze quarterly results and compile company, peer, and industry statistics for use in discussions with the investment community, including quarterly investor presentations.
  • Events & Relationships: Lead investor days, roadshows, conferences, earnings conference calls, and rating agency touchpoints; target and cultivate strong investor relationships; prepare executives with briefing books and key messages. Provide ongoing dialogue and contact with the investment community regarding the company's operating results and strategy.
  • Capital Markets & Rating Agencies: Collaborate with Treasury on capital actions (dividends, repurchases, debt, & insurance-linked securities issuance) and associated communications. Support rating outcomes by engaging with rating agencies on capital adequacy frameworks. Transparently communicate financial performance, strategy, and rating sensitivities.
  • Compliance & Governance: Maintain rigorous disclosure controls and governance standards; oversee timely, accurate reporting and adherence to Reg FD.
  • Investor Sentiment & Market Insights: Provide senior management with feedback on discussions with the investment community and commentary on market and industry events.
  • Leadership & Team Development: Lead a team of professionals; maintain and enhance an engaging team culture with a focus on talent development. Champion cross-functional collaboration across Finance, Actuarial, Underwriting, Claims, Risk, Legal, and Communications.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Requirements

  • Deep knowledge of Finance, Accounting, and Economics.
  • Exceptional executive communication, financial modeling, valuation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strategic storytelling capability, converting actuarial and finance insights into a cohesive narrative for investors, maintaining discipline and clarity.
  • Stakeholder leadership by earning trust with investors, analysts, and rating agencies through consistency, data integrity, and responsiveness.
  • Champions robust disclosure controls and alignment with Reg FD.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related; MBA, CFA, CPA, or CPCU strongly preferred.
    10 to 15+ years of experience in Investor Relations, capital markets, equity research, or corporate Finance.
  • P & C Insurance experience is preferred.
  • CPA, CFA, or CPCU strongly preferred

The actual base salary is based on geographic location, and the range is representative of salaries for this role throughout Selective's footprint. Additional considerations include relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, performance, and business needs.
