Position Summary

Acuren is currently recruiting for an UAS GIS Analyst to support our operations in Torrance, CA.

The UAS GIS Analyst supports drone-based inspection operations by processing, analyzing, and validating geospatial data collected during UAS field operations. This role is heavily focused on GIS data management, spatial analysis, and production of accurate client-ready deliverables within ArcGIS environments.

Working under the direction of the UAS Project Coordinator, the Analyst ensures that field-collected data is properly integrated, quality-checked, and formatted according to company and client standards. The UAS GIS Analyst plays a critical role in maintaining data integrity, supporting regulatory documentation, and producing high-quality mapping and reporting outputs



Responsibilities

    Process and manage UAS-collected spatial data using ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online (AGOL), ArcGIS Enterprise, Field Maps, and Survey123.
  • Perform data cleanup, feature editing, layer management, and attribute validation prior to client delivery.
  • Conduct geospatial analysis and map creation to support inspection reporting and operational decision-making.
  • Integrate imagery, GPS data, and inspection results into standardized GIS datasets.
  • Generate client-ready mapping products, KMZ files, shapefiles, and other required spatial formats.
  • Utilize Google Earth and ArcGIS tools to validate asset locations and boundary overlays.
  • Quality Assurance & Data Integrity
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) reviews on all incoming field data in collaboration with pilots and inspectors.
  • Verify spatial accuracy, completeness, and consistency of datasets.
  • Ensure proper metadata documentation and compliance with internal GIS standards.
  • Identify discrepancies in field submissions and coordinate corrections with field teams.
  • Operational & Regulatory Support
  • Assist in preparing spatial datasets required for permit applications and government land approvals, including boundary overlays and required asset data points.
  • Support documentation efforts related to FAA Part 107 compliance and airspace approvals as directed by the UAS Project Coordinator.
  • Maintain organized digital project files and structured GIS databases.
  • Reporting & Deliverables
  • Assist in preparing visual exhibits, maps, and supporting graphics for client presentations.
  • Compile GIS-based findings into standardized reporting templates.

Ensure timely delivery of accurate spatial data products aligned with project scope and objectives.



Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Geospatial Science, Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
  • 1-3 years of experience in GIS analysis, geospatial data management, or related field.
  • Experience supporting UAS operations or working with drone-collected data preferred.
  • Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online (required).
  • Experience with Field Maps, Survey123, and ArcGIS Enterprise preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of spatial data formats (shapefile, KMZ, GeoJSON, etc.).
  • Experience performing data QA/QC and spatial validation workflows.
  • Familiarity with coordinate systems, projections, and spatial reference management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and standard reporting tools.

  • Pay Transparency: As per applicable state law the job posting pay range is $23.12 - $38.54 an hour depending on experience and applicable certifications.
