Temple University's Workforce Educating and Life-long Learning (WELL) Program is searching for Full-Time Literacy Instructor II! Position Summary: The part-time Student Support Coordinator is a grant-funded position responsible for conducting academic and individual career assessments for individuals enrolling in the Workforce Education and Lifelong Learning (WELL) Program at the Lenfest Center for Community Workforce Partnerships. As part of the Student Support and recruitment teams the candidate will assist with orientation, student records and data, and workforce and career readiness related workshops. Regularly meet with WELL participants as assigned and adhere to established stag-student boundaries. This position reports to the Assistant Program Coordinator and a bachelor's degree is required for this role. JOB DETAILS * Must be available on nights and weekends when needed. * This position requires the following background checks: criminal history review, child abuse clearance, and FBI fingerprinting. * Grant-funded position *Offer of employment is conditional upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening. REQUIRED AND PREFERRED Required Education and Experience: * Bachelor's degree in education, Adult Education, TESOL, or related field * At least two (2) years of experience working with academically and socially challenged adult populations. * An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Preferred Education and Experience: * At least one year of experience teaching adult literacy or related classes. * Knowledge of various database software applications to manage program information. * 2 or more years of teaching an adult population Required Skills and Abilities: * Demonstrated experience and ability to teach, motivate, and relate positively to adult learners. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to interact with a diverse population of staff, faculty, and students. * Demonstrated ability to learn and utilize educational tools, websites, resources, and technologies effectively. * Demonstrated ability to access and apply College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS) for Adult Education and Common Core State (CCS) Standards to curriculum * Knowledgeable of PDE instructional guidelines for adult education and literacy. * Demonstrated knowledge of adult education, workforce development, and career transitional services. * Demonstrated organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills. * Demonstrated ability to operate standard office equipment. * Demonstrated proficiency with Internet, E-mail, Google Apps, MS Office 365 (Word, Excel & PowerPoint, and Outlook), and other computer applications as assigned. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Essential duties: * Teaching units of Reading, Writing, Social Studies, English as a Second Language (ESL), Math, Science, or other subjects based on experience and as assigned, in faceto-face and online remote environments. * Developing, updating, and implementing lesson plans and curriculum for online and faceto-face classes, based on assigned responsibilities. * Incorporating workforce, career readiness, and digital literacy skills into curricula, lesson plans and community activities * Assisting students with developing study plans, critical thinking skills, and strategies for goal achievement. * Meeting with students individually and documenting learner progress. * Monitoring and documenting student time and attendance. * Completing identified professional development training as required by WELL, PA Department of Education (PDE), LCCWP, Temple University, and as assigned. * Regularly attending and participating in team meetings, an active member of the professional learning community, and specialized teams. * Performs other duties as assigned EEO, COMPLIANCE AND SAFETY REPORT Temple University is committed to a policy of equal opportunity for all in every aspect of its operations, including employment, service, and educational programs.
