Therapist, Oncology

Position Summary:

Provides assessment and outpatient treatment using empirically supported treatment modalities to patient of Park Nicollet Health Services in a high-quality, cost-effective manner. Dedicates at least 80% of his/her time to providing face-to-face psychological services to patients.

This role will provide short-term psychotherapy (both in-person and virtual) to patients receiving oncology care within HealthPartners Cancer Care Centers. Primary sites will be at Frauenshuh Cancer Center at Methodist Hospital and Regions Cancer Care Center. Focus is on providing support related to adjustment to oncology diagnoses, treatment and survivorship as well as end of life concerns.

Required Qualifications:

• Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:
  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, marriage, and family, nursing, or related field of study.
  • Two or more years of relevant clinical experience (e.g., diagnostic assessments, individual, family and group counseling), including working with multidisciplinary teams in a medical/mental health setting.
• Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:
  • Obtains and maintains an active MN state license to practice independently as a master's therapist or counselor, social worker, marriage and family therapist, or nurse specialist.
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication, assessment, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to effectively problem solve and make sound, ethical decisions.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of age-related, developmental principles necessary to provide appropriate services and ensure patient safety.
  • Proven proficiency in the operation of the following: Personal Computer, Telephone, Fax Machine, Photocopier, Printer, and electronic medical record.
