About the Opportunity The Deputy Director of K12 Scholarship Programs serves as a senior member of the K12 Scholarship Programs division and performs all executive functions in the absence of the Director of the K12 Scholarship Programs division at NC SEAA. The position's primary purpose is to provide professional leadership and expertise for the scholarship grant programs for students attending nonpublic schools in grades K-12 and to assist in developing agency policy to implement the K12 scholarship programs, manage division staff in program administration, and to lead division operations for the K12 scholarship programs administered by the Authority. In addition, the position is further responsible for the oversight of the K12 technical systems, fund administration, and support and compliance related to families and nonpublic schools. The position works directly with the division Director, the Executive Director, and other senior leadership on legislative proposals, strategic initiatives, planning for necessary budgeting, technical and programming changes, and works directly with SEAA's contractor for operational issues for the K12 MyPortal system. This position is expected to work on-site at least three days per week and may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, consistent with System Office policy. North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority (NCSEAA) employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina, within a 2-hour commuting distance of their assigned duty station. About the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority The North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority (NCSEAA), an agency of the State of North Carolina, is authorized by the General Assembly to plan, finance and administer student financial assistance programs of a statewide or inter-institutional nature. It serves students attending public and private two- and four-year colleges and universities in North Carolina, as well as families of students attending nonpublic K-12 schools. About the Team The Division of K12 Scholarship Programs at SEAA administers two aid programs for kindergarten through twelfth grade students who will attend private or home schools. Together, the Opportunity Scholarship and Education Student Accounts (ESA+) Scholarship award over $700 million to approximately 100,00 students each year. Both Programs have scheduled increases for future legislative allocations and will continue to grow. The Division processes scholarship applications and verifications, manages customer service to parents of the student scholarship recipients, and also provides support and oversight to over 700 K12 nonpublic schools receiving funds on behalf of students. Minimum Education, Experience, and Skills Bachelor's degree and a minimum of seven years of work experience in government roles, supervisory experience of managing a team of employees, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills Masters' degree preferred. Work experience with education-related program management.
