Working under the supervision of the IT Manager or Director, referring significant problems and issues for management review or approval, a Business Integration Analyst develops or revises technical integration with various platforms external to the core systems at Connection. Works with customers and/or suppliers in support of new or revised systems, API, cXML or EDI integrations, as well as internal customers and stakeholders. Works closely, when necessary, with the applications and platform development teams, product management, and applications support for testing or debugging API processes for both internal and external customers and suppliers.

Responsibilities may include understanding and converting business requirements into functional specifications for the development team to develop against. Documenting specifications, including quality assurance steps to be followed by the development engineer and QA analyst. EDI integrations require working closely with the external partner to map requirements, identify or create test data and shepherd the integration testing through to production implementation.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops or revises technical integration with various platforms external to the core systems at Connection.
  • Reads and understands business requirements provided and configures the integration platform to support them.
  • Produces artifacts that support the agile SDLC process: specifications, process maps, mockups and test cases.
  • Provides root cause analysis of moderate problems and suggests solutions.
  • Resolves issues or escalates risk to senior analysts and/or management.
  • Develops solutions based on customer requests for change under the direction of a senior analyst
  • Supports the Quality Assurance team as required for unit and/or regression testing.
  • May work with customers in support of systems integrations.
  • Notes opportunities for application, platform, and business process improvements for both internal and external customers and communicates them to senior level people.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • One or both of the following:
  • In-depth knowledge of EDI standards (ANSI X12, EDIFACT, XML), experience working with EDI documents (including 810, 850, 855, 856, etc.) and experience mapping, troubleshooting and testing EDI documents with various trading partners.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience working with APIs (GET, POST, PATCH, DELETE) and comparing JSON output to underlying relational databases.
  • Ability to present solutions to senior level analysts or managers.
  • Experience with ERP systems (JDE EnterpriseOne preferred) and integration via API or EDI.
  • Some knowledge of ITSM Solutions including ServiceNow, Cherwell, Atlassian, etc.
  • Experience with B2B procurement applications including Ariba, Coupa, Oracle, GHX, etc.
  • Solid Microsoft Office skills for creating presentations, spreadsheets and other documents.
  • Some experience in working with business customers as well as application developers.
  • Understanding of business processes in a distribution business environment.
  • Working knowledge of software bug tracking/reporting best practices and tools.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills with ability to document activities, anticipate problems, plan schedules and monitor performance according to priorities and deadlines.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage several small projects in parallel.
  • Adaptable with ability to switch tasks based on shifting priorities.
