Job Description

The Lab Technician is responsible for performing testing and analysis of materials and products to support production. Testing and analysis include both routine QC testing and non-routine special tests to troubleshoot production issues and qualify material, equipment and test methods.



Shift: Day (7am - 3pm)




  • Performs laboratory testing and analysis of raw materials and finished products. This includes, but is not limited to, physical and chemical property testing that will determine product quality and performance and root cause analysis for production issues.
  • Records and reports test results in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Regularly supports and collaborates with other departments (e.g. Operations, Production Control, Purchasing, Engineering, Technical). This includes providing suggestions for testing as well as data interpretation of the test results.
  • Maintains lab equipment in the Main Lab and satellite labs across the site, including calibration, verification, operation, and programming as applicable.
  • Writes and reviews work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Prepares Certificates of Analysis for Compounds.
  • Performs ATP testing of water to comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Works with internal and external technical support teams to troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Moves, connects and disconnects gas cylinders
  • Monitors lab supply levels and promptly notifies the Lab Manager when restocking is required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Some work required on weekends and outside of normal weekday hours as well as occasional overtime.

Qualifications

Education:



  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Associates degree or higher preferred.



Requirements:



  • Competent and comfortable using computers and technical equipment, including unfamiliar devices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint), Outlook, SharePoint, record keeping, basic technical writing, and data interpretation.
  • Familiar with FUSION, SAP, and Minitab.
  • Experience with laboratory testing techniques (e.g., microscopy, spectroscopy, rheology).
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, including the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) across various units of measurement, use fractions and percentages, and conduct and interpret basic statistical analyses.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong observational skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and a willingness to learn.
  • Extremely detail-oriented.
  • Able to work collaboratively and effectively within a team.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability by seamlessly pivoting between tasks and responsibilities in response to shifting priorities, team needs, or business changes.
