Purpose

The Workface Planner II - Pipe is responsible for translating project plans into executable piping work packages that allow craft crews to perform work safely and efficiently. The role focuses on short-interval planning, field readiness, and coordination between engineering, materials, construction, and subcontractors to maintain productivity and schedule adherence while meeting quality, safety, and contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, review, and maintain piping work packages in alignment with project schedules, drawings, specifications, and construction priorities.

  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, QA/QC, and construction teams to ensure all workface prerequisites are identified and resolved prior to execution.

  • Perform constraint analysis and proactively work to remove barriers related to materials, drawings, permits, access, and manpower.

  • Support piping construction sequencing and installation logic to optimize crew productivity and minimize rework.

  • Interface regularly with piping superintendents, foremen, and field engineers to validate work readiness and align daily and weekly plans.

  • Monitor field progress and update planning deliverables to reflect actual conditions and emerging priorities.

  • Ensure work packages comply with project safety requirements, environmental standards, and quality procedures.

  • Assist with the preparation of planning metrics, progress reports, and look-ahead schedules.

  • Support continuous improvement of workface planning processes, tools, and systems.

  • Participate in planning meetings, constructability reviews, and field coordination sessions.


What You Will Bring Technical / Industry Experience
  • Experience in piping construction planning or field execution within industrial construction environments such as energy, chemicals, or resources.

  • Working knowledge of piping systems, isometrics, P&IDs, material take-offs, and installation practices.

  • Strong understanding of workface planning principles, short-interval planning, and constraint management.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including engineering, construction, and subcontractors.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate planning requirements to field leadership.

  • Familiarity with construction planning software, digital work packaging tools, and project controls systems.

  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Education - Qualifications, Accreditation, Training

Required:

  • University degree or equivalent experience in construction management, engineering, or a related discipline.

Preferred:

  • Trade background in piping combined with planning experience and additional technical or planning-related training.
