Air Products has an immediate opening for a Regional Operations Specialist supporting Small HYCO and Gen Gas sites across Eastern America. This role provides technical, operational, and leadership support and reports directly to the Ops Detroit and Small H2 Manager.

The preferred location for this role is a residence within the IG North sub-region, though candidates located elsewhere will be considered. The role requires approximately 50% travel to field locations across the Eastern U.S.

The Operations Specialist provides firstline support for multiple sites across MI, TN, MO, and NC, including three HYCO Smart Plants, one Small HYCO plant, one PHG 830 H Generator, one ASU, and one HPN.

Responsibilities:

  • Safety Lead for Normal Operations and Outages
  • Provide plant event support for unplanned plant upsets and trips, as well as outage shutdowns and startups.
  • Lead outage preparation and onsite support, including lockout guidance and safety leadership.
  • BSP coordinator
  • PSM Audit Prep
  • Serve as an Operations Trainer, supporting SWP, IRR, Operations Certification, and Leadership Certification.
  • Compliance Management Oversight
  • Event Management Oversight
  • IRR approver
  • Coordinate plant coverage for vacations, FMLA, and outage support.

Technical Support Including:

  • Troubleshoot abnormal plant conditions and events
  • Troubleshoot and/or repair transmitters, valves, motors, and MCCs
  • Proficient in MI program implementation
  • Work directly with the Maintenance Manager to facilitate TARs and repairs
  • Proficient with SAP

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma required; technical degree or higher education preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial gas equipment support or related technical roles
  • Strong commitment to safety and operational excellence
  • Plant operations experience preferred
  • Instrumentation and controls experience preferred
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%, including support of remote locations
  • The successful candidate should reside within one hour of a major airport or have access to travel to a major airport.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Strong administrative skills to track and manage activities
