Overview

The Aircraft Captain serves as Pilot in Command and has final authority and responsibility for the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the aircraft. The Captain ensures all flight operations are conducted in accordance with applicable regulations, company policies and procedures, and the Safety Management System (SMS). This role includes mission planning and execution, crew leadership and coordination, operational risk management, and real-time decision-making. The Aircraft Captain leads by example and actively promotes a corporate culture in which safety is a core value.

Location & Travel:

    Location: Sheboygan, WI
  • Travel: Willing to travel 16 days on and 12 OFF to conduct line operations and/or train/evaluate line pilots. Travel may be more than 75%.

Responsibilities

Flight Line Operations (70%):

  • Perform a preflight and a post flight inspection of the aircraft which includes cleaning the inside and exterior of the aircraft after each flight.
  • Mission planning including aircraft performance calculations, weather interpretation, ground support coordination, air traffic control coordination and client coordination.
  • Effectively work with the Sensor Operator to safely and efficiently complete each mission.
  • Supervise vendor compliance including fueling and outsourced maintenance.
  • Movement of the aircraft in and out of the hangars.
  • Reporting of aircraft and project status.
  • Communicate with the aircraft mechanics to track and schedule all maintenance on NVS Geospatial aircraft, ensuring the airworthiness of the aircraft and create the highest level of safety.
  • Verify FAA record compliance.
  • Track personal qualifications including currency and medical ensuring that they are current and qualified to perform a mission.
  • Maintain all required charts, publications and manuals for currency and all avionics downloads for charts services.
  • Understand and comply with ethical, legal and regulatory requirements applicable to our business.

Company Training (20%):

  • Company Onboarding
  • Aircraft Initial/recurrent training hosted by a third-party provider
  • Internal pilot training and evaluation events which include initial operating experience, line-oriented flight training, remedial training and ground training (modules)
  • Company required pilot group training
  • All corporate training and training events mandated by clients

Administrative Duties (10%):

  • Establishing, with the cooperation and assistance of company personnel and salary administration officers, minimum employment qualifications, hiring procedures, salary structure, performance appraisal procedures, grade structure and dismissal procedures.
  • Maintaining high morale through an awareness of company and department policies, employee development programs and periodic department meetings for the communication of ideas, goals and objectives.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • FAA Single or Multi-engine Commercial pilot license.
  • 1+ years of experience as a pilot-in-command of an aircraft operated under CFR 14 Part 91, 135 or 121.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 750 hours total time.
  • FAA Second Class Medical Certificate.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Flight Instructor. CFI, CFII, and MEI.
  • 1+ years of experience as a certified flight instrument and/or multiengine instructor.
  • Aerial survey experience.
  • Experience in King Air 200, Cessna Conquest II, or Cessna Caravan.
  • Pressurized turbine aircraft experience.
  • Multiengine experience.
  • Remote flying experience in Alaska or similar.
  • Bachelor's degree.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a positive and helpful attitude.
  • Well organized with the ability to handle multiple and competing priorities.

Physical Requirements:

  • Willing to travel 16 days on and 12 OFF to conduct line operations and/or train/evaluate line pilots.
  • Drive aircraft tug.
  • Some early mornings and late evenings.
  • Outside flight operations, exposure to the cold and heat, elements of the seasons.
  • Travel may be more than 75%
