Job Summary

Coordinates the operations, outreach activities and initiatives of the Model United Nations (UN) Program of the Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs.

  • Coordinates the operational and outreach activities of the Model United Nations (UN) Program.
  • Coordinates the administrative and logistic activities of the Model United Nations Program, including recruitment, training and overall team participation in national conferences and all matters related to competition.
  • Coordinates and facilitates the High School Model UN Competition by preparing participants, managing all logistics and executing all matters as related to the competition at Florida International University (FIU).
  • Works with the Faculty-of-Record of the Model United Nations Course to design and execute simulation exercises and mock debates to prepare the Model UN team for conference participation.
  • Works in conjunction with the Model United Nations Faculty-of-Record to manage class lectures, coordinate faculty lectures, and assist in the creation of necessary canvas courses related to the Model UN class.
  • Facilitates and assists in designing and preparing writing exercises, public speaking engagements and strategic workshops to advance skills set development of Model UN team members.
  • Promotes student success through the coordination of student mentoring initiatives through Model UN activities in addition to the dissemination of relevant opportunities presented to students.
  • Coordinates with the Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs Communications Team in order to facilitate marketing, communication and public relations related to the Model UN Program.
  • Coordinates and prepares marketing and promotional materials for team member recruitment along with press releases and news items related to team activities. Maintains and updates social media and website of the Model United Nations Program.
  • Works with the Faculty Director and the Steven J. Green School Financial Team to coordinate the financial operations and transactions related to the Model UN Program.
  • Coordinates travel related expenses to national conferences for eligible participants. Prepares travel authorizations and expense reimbursements within the Panther Soft Financials System.
  • Serves as a University Credit Card user for departmental transactions related to the operations of the Model UN Program. Adheres to University pro-card policies and procedures. Prepares and monitors financial expenditures for all projects and events while reconciling approved budget transactions. Reconciles all expenses and transactions to charges assigned to the Pro-Card.
  • Serves as the liaison between the Student Government Association (SGA) and the Green School to secure annual funding for the Model United Nations Program. Completes all necessary funding requirements every spring semester, as stipulated by Student Government Association protocols and procedures.
  • Engages in frequent contact with Green School faculty and faculty affiliates, visiting scholars, visiting dignitaries, students and other visitors to the Green School to advance the mission and objectives of the Model UN Program. Serves as a liaison between the Green School and the University community and the community at large as it relates to the Model UN Program.
  • Works with the Faculty Director and/or Green school leadership in planning special events and assists in coordination of speakers, logistics, and student recruitment. Coordinates the participation of Model UN team members at special events and facilitates networking opportunities for team members.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of office or related experience.



Desired Qualifications

Knowledge/prior experience with collegiate Model United Nations program.
