The Opportunity with McKinstry

At McKinstry, we help organizations make smarter financial and infrastructure decisions that improve buildings, strengthen communities, and drive long-term value. We are seeking a Financial Analyst to join our Funding and Financial Solutions team - a small, high-impact group that plays a critical role in helping clients access capital, optimize funding strategies, and make financially sound investments in their facilities.

In this newly created role, you will help shape how projects come to life by analyzing client financial positions, developing cash flow and financing models, researching grants and incentives, and navigating complex state and federal policies that impact our work. You will partner closely with sales, business development, and project teams to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights that support strategic decisions, accelerate sales opportunities, and improve project outcomes.

This is a highly consultative role for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, influencing strategy, and helping clients unlock financial solutions that enable meaningful results. The position is based in Seattle, WA and follows a hybrid schedule (minimum three days in the office each week).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial analysis of key opportunities and key clients, including identification of risks and opportunities.

  • Track, analyze, and report Federal and state programs, policies, and incentives to support business development teams.

  • Develop and present complex financial proformas, ensuring complete story telling and accuracy in a broad range of situations.

  • Support the pursuit of strategic McKinstry or client-specific grant opportunities.

  • Identify procurement mechanisms for business development and growth.

  • Develop funding and financing scenarios that meet customers' needs, McKinstry goals, and any regulatory or policy requirements.

  • Knowledge and dissemination of private and public financing mechanisms applicable to McKinstry lines of business. Provide appropriate training for Business and Project Development teams.

  • Leverage understanding of key Federal and State grants and programs related to McKinstry services and projects to support development of strategy for McKinstry, including at key pursuit level.

  • Maintain relationships with business units in McKinstry as well as outside financial partners in pursuit of success.

  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry

Education, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.A.) in business, accounting, economics, finance, engineering, financial engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in banking, finance, consulting, or financial analysis preferred.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling concepts.

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) required; working knowledge of SharePoint preferred.

  • Familiarity with AI-driven tools or smart learning systems is a plus.

  • Understanding of and interest in public and private finance structures and mechanisms.

  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of internal stakeholders and external customers.

  • Experience in performance contracting preferred.

  • Limited travel to regional and major office locations as needed.

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $45.00 per hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This is a non-exempt role and will be paid hourly. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
