Lipscomb Academy is seeking a passionate High School Social Studies Teacher who loves history and sharing with adolescents. You will inspire students to read deeply, write powerfully, speak confidently, and integrate a Christian worldview as they explore history and its applications to today's world. What You'll Do
- Teach high school Social Studies courses (level and/or AP sections based on expertise)
- Design engaging, standards-aligned units that develop close reading, rhetoric, composition, and research skills
- Use workshop routines, Socratic seminars, and inquiry-based discussions to build voice and agency
- Provide timely, actionable feedback on writing through drafting, conferencing, and revision cycles
- Differentiate instruction for diverse learners and collaborate on supports
- Integrate purposeful technology (e.g., Google Workspace/Schoology) to enhance literacy and collaboration
- Contribute to school culture through advisory, clubs, events, and service-learning
- Partner with colleagues on vertical alignment, common assessments, and data-informed instruction
- Model Christ-like character and intentionally integrate faith with learning by embedding Biblical concepts into lessons.
- Maintain accurate records, communicate proactively with students and families, and uphold school policies
- Model Christian character and shepherd students with care, consistency, and integrity
What You Bring
- As a Christian independent school affiliated with the Churches of Christ, Lipscomb Academy seeks faculty who can support and model the school's mission and values. Candidates should be willing to participate in spiritual life activities and mentor students in faith and character.
- Bachelor's degree in Social Studies, Social Studies Education, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Valid Tennessee secondary Social Studies teaching license (or eligibility within a defined timeline)
- Demonstrated success in working with students in grades 9-12. Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills
- Skill in teaching analysis and research with clear rubrics and exemplars
- Proficiency with Schoology and Google Workspace; comfort with formative assessment tools
