POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Director Analytics System, the Senior Revenue Cycle Business Analyst position is responsible for developing standard reports that serve the needs of our business users. They will play a key role in projects across revenue cycle functions, with a focus on analysis of data to inform management, drive accountability, and guide business decisions. Works directly with project and business leaders to identify analytical requirements, locate data sources, develop financial models and create presentations to inform senior management.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:


  • Develops, tests and deploys standard reports and dashboards based on business requirement document specifications.

  • Works collaboratively with Business Systems Analysts and/or directly with key business users to ensure business requirements and report specifications are documented accurately and completely.

  • Incorporates data from multiple sources in evaluations. Examples include hospital and physician billing system, budget system, cost accounting system, and general ledger.

  • Work on and/or lead special projects that require research and analysis. May involve partnering with other business areas to identify and resolve issues.

  • Conform to hospital standards of performance and conduct, including those pertaining to patient rights, so that the best possible customer service and patient care may be provided.

  • Utilizes hospital's behavioral standards as the basis for decision making and to support the hospital's mission and goals.

  • Foster collaboration across the team and other revenue cycle stakeholders to ensure alignment of strategies and initiatives.
  • Take lead on special projects and other duties as assigned
  • Demonstrate strong critical thinking and innovation to drive BMHS analytics and reporting toward modern, industry-standard technologies
  • Focus on applying data science to operational revenue cycle challenges. Apply predictive and prescriptive analytics to revenue cycle metrics and areas of focus for denials management, AR optimization, and cash forecasting

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

Bachelors degree required, preferably in a finance field, or related field of study

Masters Degree in Business, Public Health or related field preferred

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

Epic Revenue Data Model (Clarity) Certification

EXPERIENCE:


  • 3+ years of related managed healthcare or insurance operations experience

  • Excellent understanding with Hospital Billing and Professional billing data

  • Demonstrated expertise with SQL , crystal reports and Tableau

  • Expertise with relational database concepts, data modeling and OLAP technologies


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:


  • Ability to work independently and excel in a complex, demanding environment required with time-sensitive deadlines.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Utilize advanced data analytics and governance expertise to develop, maintain, and standardize certified datasets that serve as the centralized source for Revenue Cycle KPI metrics.

  • Develop predictive models to prioritize work queues and design root cause analysis frameworks

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with physicians, management, staff, and other internal/external customers.

  • Experience in translating and communicating key analyses and assumptions in concise fashion to Senior Management for decision making purposes.

  • Excellent computer skills and experience on both a General Ledger System as well as comparable spreadsheet and word processing software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access and other analytical tools) and ability to train others.

  • Team player with the willingness and desire to learn and grow within the organization.

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities

  • Ability to respond quickly and positively to change; acts as a change agent

  • Ability to link understanding of business processes, business drivers, and changes to other areas

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills; adept at handling group dynamics

  • Highly motivated individual able to take direction from managers

  • Ability to prioritize work while working on multiple projects keeping track of and meeting due dates

  • Proficient in SQL, Tableau, PowerPoint & EXCEL


Compensation Range:

$78,000.00- $113,000.00

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, skills, and certifications/licensures as they directly relate to position requirements; as well as business/organizational needs, internal equity, and market-competitiveness.
