BioCryst is a fast-growing pharmaceutical company seeking an experienced Associate Director, IT Business Partner to build and mature business partnerships across G&A functions, including Human Resources, Legal, Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain, Corp Comm and IT. This role serves as a strategic IT business partner and technology advisor, responsible for understanding functional goals, shaping the technology roadmap, and enabling system and process improvements across these areas.
The Associate Director leads initiatives involving business analysis, project management, solution design, vendor collaboration, and technology enablement. This role ensures high satisfaction with IT systems and services, with emphasis on platforms such as Oracle Cloud Fusion, Workday, OIC, Contract Management system and finance applications, along with other G&A enablement systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as the primary IT business partner for G&A stakeholders across HR, Legal, Finance, Supply Chain and IT.
- Develop a deep understanding of current and emerging business requirements, processes, challenges, and opportunities within G&A functions.
- Translate business strategies into actionable IT initiatives and multi year technology roadmaps.
- Identify and introduce process improvements and technology enhancements through presentations, workshops, and strategic discussions.
- Ensure alignment between IT strategy and priorities of supported business functions.
- Identify, assess, and prioritize opportunities to improve operational efficiency and business outcomes through technology.
- Lead stakeholders through full business analysis activities, including requirements gathering, process mapping, workflow design, and documentation.
- Support continuous improvement by assessing existing processes and recommending optimizations.
- Manage and deliver small to medium sized technology projects within the G&A portfolio.
- Oversee project lifecycle phases: planning, requirements, design, build, testing, deployment, and transition to operations.
- Apply project management best practices to ensure solutions meet business requirements on time and within scope.
- Provide transparent communication on project status, risks, issues, and milestones to business and IT leadership.
- Maintain proactive, consistent communication with cross functional business stakeholders.
- Serve as liaison between internal teams and external Managed Service Providers or implementation partners.
- Ensure strong vendor relationships and oversight of SLAs and support obligations.
- Communicate technology updates and impacts that affect G&A business areas.
- Establish and maintain system documentation, standards, and procedures for G&A systems.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, IT controls, regulatory guidelines, and data governance standards.
- Support audits, security assessments, and compliance activities related to G&A applications and data.
- Knowledge of SOX, GxP, CFR Part 11 and IT compliance.
- Able to work flexibly across business functions or projects as needed.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Bachelor's degree in Business, Scientific or Technical discipline is required or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of eight (8) years of business experience is required, including direct experience supporting technology, with at least one year in the life sciences industry.
- Managed IT projects and provided system strategy support for three or more G&A business functions, such as Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain, Legal and HR.
- Experience with formal business analysis processes including requirements gathering, process diagramming, and specification development.
- Experience with systems design and development starting from business requirements analysis through implementation and on-going support.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
- Exhibits confidence and an extensive knowledge of emerging industry practices when solving business problems.
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of company staff.
- Ability to work independently with a strong sense of accountability, highly motivated and self-assured, hands-on problem solver.
- In-depth knowledge of applicable laws and regulations as they relate to IT.
PREFERRED
- Experience supporting HRIS, Legal/compliance platforms, contracts management systems, or financial enablement tools in Biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry
- Experience in Oracle Fusion cloud Financials, Procurement, SCM and HCM modules, OIC and Workday HCM
- Familiarity with enterprise SaaS ecosystems and crossfunctional system integrations.
- Working knowledge of IT controls, system validation, and regulated environments.
