Job Description:

The Process Engineering Intern will support PCBA manufacturing operations through process documentation, data analysis, inspection program support, and continuous improvement activities. This role provides hands-on exposure to electronics manufacturing processes while assisting process engineers and manufacturing teams in improving efficiency, accuracy, and production readiness.

This internship is intended for a 3rd-year engineering student seeking practical experience in process engineering within a PCBA manufacturing environment. The position is full-time and onsite for the summer, with the option of continuing part-time during the school year.

Responsibilities:

Support PCBA process engineering and manufacturing activities, including but not limited to:

  • Assist with production readiness checklist and ensure equipment, programs, and documentation align with current job revisions
  • Rename and organize inspection and test programs to ensure proper nomenclature and version control
  • Assist with machine research and provide recommendations related to PCBA manufacturing processes
  • Perform basic CAD work related to fixtures or tooling, as needed
  • Pull and organize Focus Factory and manufacturing data to support reporting and process improvement efforts
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, and engineering to support production schedules and deliverables

Requirements/Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled as a 3rd year student pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related engineering field
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Interest in electronics manufacturing and PCBA processes
  • Ability to analyze data and draw logical conclusions
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities

Desired Qualifications:

  • Coursework or exposure to electronics manufacturing, PCBA assembly, or inspection processes
  • Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks or similar)
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, fixtures, or production equipment
  • Understanding of basic lean manufacturing or continuous improvement concepts
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation
  • Demonstrate aptitude for improving process efficiency and organization
