As a Field Machinist Level III on our Specialty Welding and Machining team, you will provide experienced field machining services at remote sites, utilizing high technology services in a manner reflecting WEC Nuclear Welding and Machining group's commitment to the highest levels of safety and quality. You will hold a necessary role in the performance and coordination of daily activities. You will report to the Manager of Field Service Operations. This is an onsite position at our Manning, South Carolina facility. You will travel up to 50% of the time. Your Day to Day:
- Perform technical / service lead and shift supervisor activities, including project guidance, scheduling, customer orientation and conflict resolution.
- Act as the subject matter expert (SME) to develop training / lesson plans and oversee program implementation.
- Operate machine tools, electrical test equipment, welding equipment, and measuring devices to fabricate, repair, calibrate, and maintain tools and equipment. Demonstrate proficiency in these activities consistent with the requirements for Machinist Level II certification.
- Lead, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot field machining services and equipment at customer sites. Act as the technical advisor.
- Practice and understand ALARA principles and a "Safety First" attitude.
- Provide support to engineering and training by performing equipment modifications, equipment setup and testing, mock-up preparation, process testing, and equipment and process qualifications. Document equipment performance issues during field implementation, recommend options to the responsible system engineer, and ensure corrective actions are complete before next scheduled use.
- Provide documented feedback to engineering and internal customers regarding design documentation errors and recommended changes.
- Read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings and blueprints. Record data in required form.
- Develop and deliver performance feedback on personnel to management for specific projects or work assignments.
- Develop and help manage the budget relative to the machine shop area.
Who You Are:
- Associate's degree in Mechanical engineering, Drafting (3D Modeling - Inventor preferred), or Machine Tool Technology or equivalent work experience.
- 5 years machine shop, maintenance, or welding background required.
- Understanding of part tolerancing for assembly and use of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Be able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
- Be able to work in confined areas at different elevations.
- Be able to exercise repetitive motions and long periods of standing, bending and twisting.
- Be able use ladders, manways, and scaffolding to access certain work areas.
