Summary of Job Duties:Under the direction of and Clinical Informatics and in close partnership with Pharmacy, the Clinical Informaticist (CI) is responsible for the planning, implementing, supporting, and optimizing of projects related to data extraction, processing, report application development, and analysis. Specific to clinical informatics, the CI is responsible for evaluation of the implementation of existing tools through reporting and analytics with a focus on expanding machine learning capabilities. This individual participates in the development and support of reporting applications, and, through these applications, both provides and assists the department with data analysis. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PharmD (Doctor of Pharmacy)
  • Proven programming experience in one or more programming languages is required.
  • Strong SQL coding skills, visualization building, and data analytics experience.
  • 3+ years working knowledge of one or more hospital electronic medical record (EMR) vendors, such as EPIC, Cerner, Meditech, or Allscripts

  • 3+ years of Epic Clarity report writing experience or equivalent formal training

  • 1+ year experience with a Business Intelligence Visualization Tool such as (Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik)

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS, or SSAS

  • Experience with Microsoft Office

Licenses, certificates, or registration:

Epic Cogito Certification is required.

Special knowledge, abilities, and skills:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead meetings related to data needs of Clinical Informatics to drive data outcomes related to operational goals
  • Attend clinical informatics leadership meetings to provide insight on data availability and analysis opportunities
  • Serve on institutional committees where clinical informatics data analytics is essential to committee function. Present identified revenue improvement/expansion opportunities to clinical informatics leadership
  • Communicate with stakeholders to answer questions and requests related to data needs
  • Develop SQL code to extract requested pharmacy data from Electronic Health Record database
  • Integrate data from other databases (vendors, third parties, and internal sources) to provide further insight
  • Create, publish, and maintain report dashboard applications to allow self-service reporting for pharmacy leadership on the medication use process (ordering, verification, dispensing, administration, charging, and monitoring)
  • Create, publish, and maintain report applications to track specific financial, operation, clinical, and quality metrics for departmental and institutional goals.
  • Create, publish, and maintain report applications to identify additional revenue opportunities related to uncaptured revenue, inadequate reimbursement, and new business proposals.
  • Provide guidance regarding the availability data from various sources to requesting customers
  • Provide insight on best practices to accomplish data-related goals
  • Make recommendations on potential metrics to determine financial, operation, clinical, and quality metric goal performance
  • Provide insight on key factors affecting Vision 2029 performance and provide solutions to improve target performance
  • Propose strategies to create new revenue or improve current reimbursement based on analysis of institutional data
  • Provide guidance and oversight on UAMS machine learning platforms for operations and Clinical Informatics (CI)
  • Create an evaluation plan for machine learning implementations with guidance from operations and CI
  • Provide guidance on reporting for usability evaluations on tools implemented in the electronic medical record
  • Manage projects related to the data analysis needs of business intelligence and clinical informatics
  • Ensure key stakeholders are updated on project progress
  • Develop reports as needed to demonstrate progress in project development and monitoring related to project success
  • Serve as residency rotation preceptor (as requested)Serve as lead for Clinical Informatics Fellowship education track on reporting and data analytics.
  • Provide content-specific lectures in clinical informatics (as requested)
  • Educate on general concepts related to data analysis and extraction for residents, fellows, and students.
  • Prioritizes work and seeks input when appropriate
