This position is based out of our corporate office on the west side of downtown Indianapolis. The general salary is $17-$20/hr. and includes full benefits (below): The Corporate Security Guard identifies, evaluates, controls, and minimizes exposure to losses of physical assets, fidelity losses, losses resulting from liability claims, and employee injuries and illnesses. Further duties include contributing ideas that directly impact Goodwill of Central and Southern Indiana's (GCSI) operations and being directly involved with continual improvement initiatives. In addition, this role proactively addresses issues related to theft, fraud, ethics, facility security, and operational accountability. Example Duties and Activities
Assists in managing the access and security of the corporate campus. Provides overlap support with the Manager, Corporate Security and other security guards both internal and external. Extends the security presence during the day and adds flexibility to the corporate security staffing. Performs daily foot patrols of the Michigan Street campus, interior and exterior, including all parking lots. Greets and assists all visitorsand provides high levels of customer service. Manages vendors and visitors. Manages mail and packages. Receives requests for and prints Access Control badges. Manages access levels for Access Control badges at the corporate campus. Prepares overall security plans and manages physical security operations of the organization, including assignments and staffing. Documents daily incidents in ThinkLP. Performs LP and security-related activities during downtime such as LP system administration, Internet surveillance, and/or data analysis. Performs security audits both remote and physical. Assists with and contributes to investigations of property loss, thefts, and criminal activities. Monitors performance of all organizational security equipment. Submits work orders through Facility Dude. Assists in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the corporate security program. Assists in overseeing the safety, loss prevention, and security of the web-based utility. Evaluates corporate security data, and creates reports of trends concerning various incidents. Partners with divisional directors and site leadership to promote corporate security awareness. Assists in overseeing the installation and use of the camera-based security system. Conducts internal and external interviews and investigations, and creates case reports for incidents of theft and other behavioral issues. Conducts and ensures the timely and consistent completion of corporate security site audits to identify non-compliance with applicable Goodwill policies and operational philosophies. Objectively focuses on continuous improvement through partnership and training. Coordinates corporate security and loss prevention training including improving security operations and reducing internal and external theft. Educates employees on loss prevention solutions that drive top-line growth and profitability while minimizing loss exposure. Coordinates activities with corporate and divisional leadership to ensure the effective integration of loss prevention services with other existing programs. Ensures consistency among all divisional locations with regard to loss attributed to risk liability. Assists the Manager, Corporate Security with strict adherence to all budget guidelines established for the department. Represents Goodwill in all interactions with other members of the Goodwill community and with the general public, displaying courtesy, confidentiality, tact, consideration, and discretion. Markets the mission of Goodwill in the community. Builds and fosters relationships with the various police, and public safety agencies on both a continual and as-needed basis to enforce loss prevention and safety policies.
Required Competencies
Degree and Credential Requirements - High school diploma or GED required. Industry Experience - Has worked in, ideally, a multi-customer/site environment with diverse operations providing retail loss prevention/safety, security, or law enforcement support. Possesses basic knowledge of alarms and security systems, including CCTV. Is proficient at interviewing and performing investigations with successful outcomes. Emotional Intelligence - Recognizes one's own emotions and those of others, uses emotional information to open-mindedly guide thinking and behavior, discerns between different feelings and labels them appropriately, and adjusts emotions to adapt to environments. Is empathetic and compassionate, and maintains a nonjudgemental perspective in difficult situations. Communication Skills - Articulates thoughts and expresses ideas effectively using oral, written, visual, and non-verbal communication skills, as well as listening skills to comprehend customer and employee needs. Delivers information in person, in writing, and in a digital world. Data Analysis - Collects data and statistics to test and evaluate in order to generate assertions and pattern predictions, with the aim of discovering useful information in a decision-making process. Informed Decision-Making - Identifies and comprehends issues, problems, and opportunities; collects and compares data from different sources to draw conclusions without bias; uses effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions; takes action that is consistent with available facts, constraints, and probable consequences. Technical Knowledge - Has solid knowledge of G Suite, MS Office, and the internet. Organizational Aptitude - Plans and attends to details and pursues quality in accomplishing multiple tasks in an organized and timely fashion. Exhibits careful attention to detail and follow-through with a focus on managing deadlines. Has a passion for accuracy.
Other Requirements
Moderate to Hard Physical Work - Is able to spend time in excess of 8 hours sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and crouching. Has the ability to move and lift up to 25+ pounds. Background Screening - All candidates must pass a pre-employment background check. Must have a valid driver's license, up-to-date auto insurance, and a good driving record. Ability to occasionally work a flexible schedule as needed.
