ABOUT THE JOB:

TheDesign Engineeris responsible forthe engineering design, analysis, and documentation of fabric andClearSpanstructural systems for WillScot. This is a highly technical, senior-level role focused on developing engineered structural solutions usingSolidWorks, supporting both existing systems and new structural concepts frominitialdesign through production and field deployment.

This role works closely with Product Management, Manufacturing, Operations, and external engineering partners to ensure structures are safe, code-compliant, manufacturable, and scalable.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

Structural Design & Engineering


Design fabric andClearSpanstructural systems using SolidWorks, including frames, connections, anchoring, and integration with modular or temporary structures.


Develop complete 3D models, assemblies, and detailed 2D drawings suitable for fabrication and installation.


Support structural layouts, load paths, and system configurations for site-specific applications.


Engineering Documentation


Create andmaintaindetailed drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.


Develop Bills of Material (BOMs), hardware schedules, and fabrication details.


Support tooling, fixturing, and manufacturing documentation asrequired.


Cross-Functional Collaboration


Work with Product Management to translate functional and customer requirements into engineered structural solutions.


Partner with Manufacturing and Supply Chain to ensure designs are producible, cost-effective, and scalable.


Coordinate with external engineers, fabricators, and vendors as needed.


Testing & Validation


Support prototype builds, testing plans, and validation of structural systems.


Assistwith fieldinstallsand evaluations tovalidateperformance andidentifydesign improvements.


Support continuous improvement based on testing results, field feedback, and operational lessons learned.


Cost & Program Support


Work with program and product teams to meet component-level and system-level cost targets.


Support standardization efforts across product lines where applicable.


Post-Production & Lifecycle Support


Assistwith quality control, product standardization, and end-of-line testing procedures.


Support warranty analysis, durability assessments, and usable life evaluations.


Intellectual Property


Support Product Management and Legal inidentifying, documenting, and pursuing intellectual property opportunities related to structural designs.









EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's degree in Engineeringor related disciplinerequired(Bachelor'sdegree preferred).


  • 10+ years of experiencein design engineering, preferably involving:


  • Fabric structures


  • ClearSpan/ tensioned membrane systems


  • Structural steel or aluminum systems


  • Temporary or modular structures


  • Advancedproficiencyin SolidWorks(required).


  • Strong experience creating detailed fabrication-ready drawings and assemblies.


  • Working knowledge of structural systems, connections, and constructability considerations.


  • Experience supporting prototypes, field installs, and iterative design improvements.
