About the Role:

As a per diem consultant in the Change Management and Learning and Development practice, you will collaborate with team members to support our client. Serving as an executive information technology (IT) and project strategy advisor, your day to day role as a NYSTEC consultant will be to provide ongoing strategic guidance to the project director and division directors on IT, organizational, and policy matters to ensure alignment with the goals of the SUNY Digital Transformation Project.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with division leaders to anticipate, mitigate, and resolve project risks while keeping initiatives within scope, budget, and schedule. This role serves as the primary liaison to the SUNY DTP leader, ensuring coordination and alignment across stakeholders. Additionally, this role advises on forward-looking, innovative technology designs that support transformation and long-term success.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic advice and guidance to the project director on IT-related matters
  • Develop and implement IT, organizational, and policy strategies that align with the overall goals of the DTP and SUNY
  • Work with division leaders to avoid and overcome project obstacles and provide strategies for staying within scope, budget, and schedule
  • Advise project directors on visionary designs that provide the catalyst for innovation and creative designs


About you:
Required Qualifications

  • Executive-level leadership providing strategic IT and project guidance for large, complex public-sector or higher education initiatives
  • Ability to advise senior leadership on technology strategy, organizational change, and policy development
  • Experience coordinating across multiple stakeholders and serving as a senior liaison between executive sponsors and project leadership
  • Ability to identify project risks and to develop strategies to maintain scope, schedule, and budget


Preferred/Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in IT, public administration, business, or a related discipline
  • Experience working within New York State agencies or SUNY institutions
  • Background in enterprise architecture, digital transformation strategy, or large-scale systems modernization
  • Experience mentoring senior leaders and shaping long-term, visionary technology strategies


Education and Experience

  • A bachelor's degree in information technology, public administration, business administration, or a related field
  • A minimum of 15-20 years of progressive leadership experience within state government, public-sector organizations, or higher education environments
  • Extensive experience leading or advising large-scale IT modernization, digital transformation, or enterprise-wide initiatives


The target pay range for this position is $80.00 to $120.00 per hour. When determining compensation, we analyze and carefully consider several factors, including skill set, experience, location, and job-related qualifications.
