McLane is looking for a Platform Engineer I (Hub Engineer) who's excited to support the availability, reliability, and performance of enterprise platforms that power a global digital supply chain. This is a handson role where you'll work alongside experienced platform engineers to keep critical cloud and onprem environments stable, secure, and running efficiently. If you enjoy problemsolving, automation, and learning modern platform technologies while making a real operational impact, this role offers a strong foundation for growth.

This is a hybrid position which will require the candidate to report and work from the office at least three days a week. Therefore, interested candidates should be within a 50-minute radius from Temple, TX.

What You'll Do:

  • Assist with the configuration, administration, and support of enterprise platforms, including cloud services, middleware, integration platforms, and infrastructure tools.
  • Monitor platform health, performance, and capacity, triaging alerts and escalating issues as needed to maintain system stability.
  • Perform routine maintenance activities such as patching, updates, log review, configuration validation, and scheduled system checks.
  • Support incident resolution by gathering logs, identifying basic issues, testing fixes, and participating in rootcause analysis.
  • Execute standard operating procedures for deployments, configuration changes, and environment updates under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Assist with access requests, role provisioning, and security configuration tasks in alignment with governance and control standards.
  • Help maintain platform documentation, including operating procedures, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge base articles.
  • Collaborate with engineering, development, security, and infrastructure teams to ensure platform readiness for releases and projects.
  • Support application teams during deployments and testing by validating platform availability and service connectivity.
  • Contribute to automation efforts through scripting and repeatable processes that improve efficiency and reduce manual work.

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Familiarity with platform administration, system operations, cloud services, or infrastructure support concepts.
  • Basic understanding of operating systems, networking fundamentals, monitoring tools, and troubleshooting approaches.
  • Ability to follow documented procedures accurately and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Strong communication, attention to detail, and problemsolving skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical teams.
  • This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely. This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications essential to the role. The requirement is directly related to the nature of the job and ensures compliance with workplace safety and operational standards.

Nice to have:

  • Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
  • Basic scripting experience using tools like PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automation tools, or container platforms.
  • Experience working with ticketing systems and operational support workflows.
  • Internship or project experience in platform, infrastructure, or systems engineering.
