Job Summary
The Structured Cabling Technician I is an entry-level role responsible for supporting the installation, routing, labeling, and basic termination of structured cabling systems within data center and large-scale commercial environments. This position works under the supervision of Tech II and Lead Technicians to ensure projects are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule. The Technician I gains hands-on experience with copper and fiber cabling while developing technical skills aligned with industry standards and progressing toward a Tech II skill level. Job Responsibilities
Pull and route copper and fiber cabling under supervision
Install and support cable pathways including ladder rack, basket tray, and J-hooks
Maintain proper bend radius, support, and cable management standards
Assist with building, dressing, and organizing server racks, cabinets, and patch panels
Terminate basic copper cabling including Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6A connections
Assist with fiber terminations and structured cabling installations
Label cables, racks, cabinets, and pathways according to project and industry standards
Support cable testing and troubleshooting activities under guidance
Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas within data center environments
Follow all safety rules, security protocols, and jobsite procedures
Communicate effectively with team members to support timely project completion
Job Requirements
Basic experience in low voltage, structured cabling, or commercial construction environments
Ability to pull, route, and handle copper and fiber cabling
Basic understanding of Cat5e and Cat6 cabling systems
Familiarity with punchdown tools (110/66), labeling tools, and common hand tools
Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
Comfortable working in data centers, server rooms, or large commercial environments
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety compliance
Ability to work on ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical labor for extended periods

Standard schedule is Monday through Friday with a 6:00 a.m. or 7:00 a.m. start time
Requires the use of work boots and basic hand tools; power tools are a plus
May require travel to various project sites based on assignment
Overtime may be required based on project demands
