Full-time, Hourly


Hourly Range: $14.87 - $22.28/hr



Job Summary


Property staff inventories and securely maintains residents' property during their stay at the Milwaukee County Community Reintegration Center (CRC), ensuring authorized release upon discharge or transfer. This position also serves as the backup to the warehouse position.



Work Schedule: This position will work on 1st shift, Monday-Friday. No weekends, holidays or overtime.



Job Responsibilities



  • Receive bagged property and add on property from changeover - During resident intake, officers provide the property clerk with the resident's belongings and clothing, which are organized in assigned storage and documented in CMS.
  • Provide officers with resident clothing, sheets, and blankets - Property clerks provide officers with clothing, sheets, and blankets for residents that are new to the facility during the changeover process.
  • Separate, search, and document all property for State resident transfers - When residents are transferred to MSDF, the property clerk separates approved items for transfer. Then documents them in CMS and securely stores the remaining property at the CRC.
  • Maintain Jury Clothing - For jury trials, property staff manage and document residents' personal clothing in CMS, ensuring timely pickup or secure storage if not retrieved.
  • Maintaining Legal Paperwork and Discovery - Legal paperwork and discovery (USB drive with evidence from attorney) are kept in the property room. Property clerks must log into CMS anytime it is removed or returned.
  • Release of Property - Property is released when a resident requests someone to pick it up or gets released to pick it up themselves. A valid state ID must be produced when picking up property and it must be logged into CMS.
  • Transferring Property to CJF - When a resident is transferred to CJF (Milwaukee County Jail), property must be physically pulled and prepared for transfer. This must also be documented into CMS as a transfer so that CJF can pick it up.
  • Credit Card Pull - When a resident wants to self-bail, an officer must bring a self-bail form showing the resident wants to use his/her credit card. The credit card must be pulled from property, documented, and given to Records to further process.
  • Monitor Issues with Conveyer Belt - Property bags are kept on conveyor belt; conveyor belt must be in working order at all times.
  • Back up the warehouse employee as needed - This warehouse position ensures the facility is supplied with necessary goods by receiving, storing, distributing inventory, and monitoring stock across all dorms and storage areas.
  • Ability to carry and lift up to 40 lbs.; ability to push and pull up to 100 lbs.
  • Other duties as assigned



Required Education, License/Certification and Experiences



  • Current residency within the State of Wisconsin upon application required
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • One (1) year or more of work experience in Customer Service required
  • Basic knowledge of all related computer and software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams required
  • Basic data entry skills and previous work experience entering data required
  • Employees must be able to work alone, keep accurate records in a database, read a spreadsheet and fill orders, communicate with the public in person and on the phone, and have good organizational skills
