Department Summary

The Campus Budget Office advises the VCCFO and Executive Vice Provost regarding campus budgetary planning issues and allocation of campus resources, including issues involving students, faculty, staff, space, and university finances. The office also manages the key campus planning processes and data sets that support these decisions, and performs a central role in UCLA's systems of internal control and accountability. The Financial Systems, Security and Reporting unit advises the VCCFO on finance and budget systems, reporting and security. The office oversees and manages the business processes, data, applications, security and reporting for the University's financial, budget, payroll and student financial systems.
Position Summary

This position resides within the Vice Chancellor and Chief Financial Officer (VCCFO) organization and provides advanced campuswide financial analysis, management of the campus budget data along with associated budget office tools, and oversight of campus reporting development and management. The role is split between two primary functions: * Campus Budget Office Support: Deliver analytical support to the Associate Vice Chancellor (AVC) and Directors within the Campus Budget Office. Responsibilities include providing data analysis, interpretation, and insights to inform strategic decision-making; supporting reporting needs; and overseeing the design and strategic alignment of systems used by the campus budget office. * Financial Data & Reporting Support: Lead the design and development of financial reports, train team members on various reporting tools, develop guidelines and training materials, validate reports, and collaborate with campus stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver accurate, actionable reporting.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, and reporting within a complex organization (higher education experience preferred). (Required)
  • Ability to conduct complex financial analyses, interpret data trends, and develop actionable insights. (Required)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for presenting financial information to diverse stakeholders, including senior leadership and cross-functional teams. (Required)
  • Proven ability of collaboration and interpersonal skills to work effectively with departments and individuals across the campus. (Required)
  • Ability to lead projects and deliverables, manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. (Required)
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, data modeling skills, and financial systems (e.g., Oracle, PeopleSoft, or similar ERP platforms) with extensive experience using budgeting and reporting tools. (Required)
  • Expertise in ERP data in order to support the creation, implementation, improvement and maintenance of budget and finance reporting within ERP systems. (Required)
  • Ability to translate strategic and functional requirements into system features and tools that support campus-wide financial planning and reporting. (Required)
  • Strong skills utilizing data analytic and reporting tools such as Cognos, Tableau, BI Publisher. (Required)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (Required)
