Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Summer Intern at UL Research Institutes and UL Standards & Engagement, based in our Evanston, Illinois, office. The Finance Summer Intern will support both the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and accounting teams. This internship provides meaningful, handson exposure to financial operations, budgeting, forecasting, and monthly close processes across a dynamic, missiondriven organization. It is an excellent opportunity for students pursuing a career in corporate finance or accounting.

What you'll learn and achieve:

As the Finance Summer Intern, you will play a key role in the rapid growth of UL as you:

FP&A Responsibilities

  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling to support business decisionmaking.

  • Analyze financial trends, variances, and results to identify key drivers and opportunities.

  • Support capital and major project expenditure tracking compared to planned budgets.

  • Perform adhoc financial analysis and contribute to special projects led by the FP&A team.

Accounting Responsibilities

  • Participate in the monthly close process, including variance analysis and review of financial results.

  • Support reconciliation activities and preparation of financial reports as needed.

  • Assist with maintaining accurate financial data, files, and documentation.

Cross Functional & Administrative Responsibilities

  • Partner with crossfunctional teams to gather financial information and support process improvements.

  • Assist in maintaining Finance SharePoint sites, templates, and financerelated tools.

  • Prepare presentations, reports, and other deliverables for internal stakeholders.

  • Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Professional education and experience requirements for the role include:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

  • Available to work fulltime during the internship period.
