You will assist with project management, business development, and staff development. Project responsibility will have a primary focus on solid waste management, including landfills, solid waste facilities, composting, and other projects, which may require design, planning, engineering, permitting, construction and/or operations support. It is anticipated that your daily activities will likely be comprised of both office and field assignments. You will report to the Raleigh Office Manager and you may have direct reports. This position has potential for a hybrid setting.

How you can make an impact

  • Spearhead and support the interactions between the various stakeholders
  • Performing project coordination and assisting with project management duties on projects
  • Assistance in implementing and executing the strategic vision, obtaining alignment from various parties, and executing the scope of work, completing the work on schedule, and adhering to the allocated budget for large-scale infrastructure and industrial facility projects.
  • Contributing support on existing engineering and consulting projects related to the landfills, landfill gas, leachate, solid waste and recycling facilities, composting, waste-to-energy, stormwater management, and other environmental infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinating and managing solid waste engineering and consulting projects by serving as SCS' designated Assistant Project Manager and fulfilling the responsibilities associated with these roles (budgeting, manpower resources, invoicing, work quality review, client communications, etc.)
  • Contributing to SCS' strategic initiative practice areas that possess solid waste engineering, field investigation, consulting, and financial-related implications
  • Conducting business development, client management, and client relationship efforts, such as preparing proposals, attending and/or presenting at conferences, professional association activities, cost estimating and budgeting, site visits, etc.
  • Implementing SCS's Quality Management System (QMS) for work products by having your work reviewed by a second qualified person and by performing quality assurance reviews, and peer reviews, and serving as an Assistant Project Manager on a variety of project assignments and company initiatives
  • Actively training, developing, coaching, and mentoring staff that may help you with project work and business development activities to lead and grow professionals based in the SCSNC offices.
  • Travel to client sites or other SCS offices in the mid-Atlantic region.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, or a related science major required.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of civil engineering/environmental project management experience. Relevant solid waste experience including landfill gas management, landfill design and permitting is a plus.
